Sudden Pain-Is This Normal Guys?

Recommended Posts

I'm just over a week out and I didn't have many problems with incision pain. I had my second day back to work today and I had to leave because I just couldn't get comfortable. My incisions are painful and I am sore on my left side. I know I just had major surgery, but I thought I was pass this point. I hadn't taken any of the hydrocodone because I was going to be at work. I took some when I got home and I am still in pain. Any help guys?

Sudden pain is usually gas if it's not accompanied with fever, chills, rapid heart beat, etc. which of course is a sign of something serious like a leak. In the weeks after my surgery, I had that a lot and it would sneak up on me in the worst of times. I found sitting made it worse. Usually walking, drinking plenty of fluids and time will make that go away. The other sign it may be gas is the fact that the pain meds aren't helping you.

My incisions were also pretty tender for a good 10-12 days before I could wear pants with buttons or a zipper and sit down. That goes away and before you know it you forget you have them! Hope you feel better soon!

sounds like gas to me too.....it is brutal. Walk and drink your liquids, should subside - but listen to your body if it don't feel right it probably isn't.

I was a slow healer and it really took 2 weeks for me to not feel pain. I used pain meds for 2 weeks, although not every day by the end of it.

But any sudden pain that you are unsure of, always ask your surgeon. It's probaby fine, but better safe than sorry. They'd rather have several false alarms than to miss one complication that could have been fixed if it had been attended to.

Call your doctor to be safe. My sudden pain turned out to be a stricture.

During surgery once the part of the stomach that is taken out. You are stitched inside and it takes 2 weeks for the inside stitch to dissolve. Then you will notice the pain gone. Also the indention on that side. Hope you get to feeling better!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
