Hello Everyone, My name is Tammie, I'm 28 years old in Colorado Springs, Co. As of this moment, I have a lapband but will be having it removed and then a gastric sleeve. I can't express how much I am looking forward to this because the lapband only caused more problems for me. Currently I weigh 221 lbs and stand 5'3 1/2. My goal weight is 125-130 lbs. I am not trying to lose weight for cosmetic reasons. My main goal with this journey is to help reduce my PCOS and infertility. Like many women, my dream is to one day be a mother. Right now, my reproductive Endocrynologist tells me that is nearly impossible for me. I hope to get to know many of you and we can travel these roads together, laugh together, and cry together. If there is anyone else who is in my area and would like to get to know each other please email me. Good luck to everyone.

My husband is Active Duty Army so Tricare will be covering it and I will be getting my sleeve at Evans Army Hospital. Monday I have to go in to get a barium scan because I was in the ER for vomiting some blood. So making sure I'm good to go before they put me under :) Yes I am familiar with how things go but from my understanding, weight loss is a little faster with the sleeve rather than the band. Would that be accurate?

Thanks - I'm getting there! In a stall right now (which is no big deal to me). The rest will come off eventually :D

You'll do great!!

And yes, weight loss is quicker with the sleeve over the band. When I went in my doc says I am losing like a bypass patient, guess they lose a bit quicker than sleeves she says. Woo hoo!

Hi,

I am also from Colorado Springs and am getting the sleeve in June - whew 2 weeks out. I start on my pre op diet tomorrow or the next day. Slightly scared about it but hopeful.

Have ordered some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and chike Protein shake powders. Not quite sure how it will all go, or results. Am on the last lap before the big day though.

Any hints?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
