Why Does The Elliptical Kick My Butt?

Recommended Posts

Great job!! I am hoping to finish week 2 tomorrow and start week three wednesday. Are you doing any other cardio on top of your C25K? I haven't yet but I wanted to start with the hour a day thing (or at least' date=' an hour on the days I exercise) so I was thinking of doing some elliptical and some bike if I can.[/quote']

I love riding my bike! I only do it once or twice a week but when I do I usually go 20-30 miles. I just joined a gym yesterday but can't work out there until my doctor faxes over a release. I really want to focus more on toning at this point!

I do the elliptical 5 days a week now. Told my husband I'm an "addictical."

I'd love to start riding a bike again but I have to wait until I'm lighter. Last time I tried to ride one I thought the tires were flat. No. It was just me mashing the poor thing into the pavement.

:/

I am the opposite, I prefer the elliptical, but get a much better workout on the flat treadmill. Because I don't want the high impact, when I do the elliptical I make it harder by doing 10 minutes forward, 10 minutes backward and repeat. You wouldn't believe what going backwards does for your butt!

LadyIvy, I'm going to have to try your suggestion. Usually whenever I go "backwards" on the elliptical, I end up going faster than normal (like 200+ RPM, where forwards a normal RPM is 150 for me). Idk what it is on the elliptical, but I absolutely love it. Years ago, whenever I first used it, I remember 5 mins and I was dying. But it was a challenge and now I love it.

I'm doing other workout classes and incorporating elliptical and the stair master (that killer) every other day rotations between classes (so elliptical this morning, class tonight, stair master tomorrow, class tomorrow night). Yes, I've resumed my workout addiction and currently loving it :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
