New Orleans, Louisiana And Metro Area Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. My name is Samantha, I'm 23 and living in New Orleans, La. I'm looking for other sleevers in the area that would be interested in maybe having a monthly meet up or something along their lines. I have created a group and hope that you join and we can use it as a tool of support and learning.

Thank you.

Hiya, Sammie. There's a northshore group of us who get together occasionally--and there are other sleevers in the metro area! I actually JUST met someone in person while shopping at Lakeside--we had communicated on this board and just happened to be in the same store and start a conversation. :-) Small world. Welcome to the board!

Still unbelievable and so ironic! I loved it! Told my mom and sister! They started asking me all kinda of questions..how long ago. How much was lost. Any problems. I was like, we were in a store! I didn't ask a lot of questions! I so can't wait until August!

I'm all for anyone who's interested coming to these meet ups. I saw the group that meets on the northshore, but they seem to meet for lunch on week days a lot which is just something I won't be able to make. I also made a group so that it would be easier to talk to one and other and set up the meet ups.

Hopefully it will work out cause I know I would really like to meet some more sleevers.

Hey there. There have been a couple people I've connected with who live in New Orleans and has gone through the surgery. I have yet to meet anyone face to face but would love to be a part of the group. Are you on Meetup.com? I am also an organizer of a couple Meetup groups in the area: Couch 2 5K Meetup and NOLA Newbies Meetup...

I have searched around the meetup site hoping that there was something like this already in place and was sad when there wasn't. I would love to get something going on here and there.

Hey guys, has everyone other than MGM been sleeved already? My surgery is in 10 days. I would love to meet with someone right after surgery that has already been sleeved and talk about the first few weeks post-op.

I would be willing to meet up with you and talk to you about first few weeks post-op. I'm still there right now actually. Always willing to help out a new sleever. I know how much it would have helped me.

Thanks so much. I'll contact you after my surgery. I don't know much about what to expect as far as my mobility but I would like to meet up as soon as possible post-op. I'm just so ready for this surgery so I can start losing and also because this pre-op liquid diet is killing me. I can't even watch tv because the food commercials give me headaches lol. I'm a medical student at LSU and I'm barely getting through my finals. I'm so weak and hungry and my head is killing me but I know it's going to be worth it.

It is going to be worth it, but I know the feeling all to well. I was just telling my mother the other day that I wish there where networks that didn't show ads for junk food. I can't imagine what it would be like to have school stuff during all this.

If you ever need a ear, I'm here. (hey that rhymes lol)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
