Surgeon Doesn't Do A Leak Test...deal Breaker?

I had both the leak test the day after surgery before being put on a clear liquid diet and I had a drain that was looked at on day 5 post op where it was also examined for blue dye I was given in the hospital as a sign of leakage

I would agree it depends on your surgeon and their success without any leaks. Ask if you don't feel comfortable. Some doctors are more cautious. Mine for example had me do a stress test even though I had 4 other surgeries and came out just fine.

My surgeon doesn't normally do a leak test for his VSG patients. He did say, however, that if a person experienced lots of nausea and vomiting after the surgery, he would do one prior to the okay to have Water by mouth.

He does test for leaks during the surgery by pumping the stomach full of a blue dye and they check our drain as well.

It didn't concern me, his explanations made sense.
