Just want to warn before hand it might be a little gross, but I need to know if this ok, for the past three days I have been going to the bathroom twice a day having a very loose and watery stool. All I have been having is crystal light energy Water, Jello and broth. Should I be worried of the frequency since I am eating so little or is this normal? Thanks for everyone who answers

Your bowel movements are normal for post op. I am 2 weeks post op and still have the watery/sawdust like poops. My dr. Said that until I start eating more solid I would have those types of stools. And fair warning don't trust your farts until you get a better idea of the pooping pattern.

This is happening to me now and the doctors told me before I left the hospital yesterday that it will be normal as long as there is no blood in it.

P.s. if you start to have more than 4 a day just give your dr office a call and let them know. Your dr may say that it is ok but it doesn't hurt to give them a call.

THe most important thing is to make sure you are getting at least 8 glasses of Water a day. You can count the Protein Shakes as liquid intake. If your lips start to get dry then check your intake. On humid and hot days try to increase your intake to 10 glasses a day. As long as your coming close to you daily intake you should be ok.

very true... don't trust a fart. Yeah, it's normal to be very loose during the liquid diet stage.

"Never trust your farts" reminds me of the motto of one of my favorite Mexican restaurants which was "Every farts a gamble". LOL

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
