Trouble With Eggs Post-Op?

Recommended Posts

I am 9 weeks post op and could not eat eggs until yesterday & I only ate 4 small bites. I'm going to keep eggs limited until I know I'm good with them.

Is anyone else having trouble with eggs post op? I am 16 days out and supposed to be on mushies. My doctor includes eggs as part of the mushy stage, but I can't tolerate them yet. I'm starting to wonder if I ever will. I've tried fried, hard boiled, even a bariatric specific omelet mix with Protein. Nothing sets. Just wondered if I have any sleeve bros and sis's with the same problem.

I had eggs 3 weeks after surgery and I didn't feel well for two days. I will try them again next week and see how it goes.

I’m 4 weeks post sleeve and eggs are a no go for me. Just won’t go down.

eggs kicked my butt for several months. My coworker didn’t have any issue with them at all. She adapted to foods a lot faster than I did on every level. I am 5 yrs out and only have issues with gooey breads.

The first two times I ate eggs they were rough and I nearly vomited. I seem to do fine now. eggs are common unknown allergen for many people so it may play a role with digestion and newly sensitive stomach

I also had trouble with eggs. I still don't eat scrambled eggs, I mostly eat hard boiled in salads, although I had a slice of quiche (the insides) with no issue.

Still can’t really eat eggs after 11 months out. They just feel like they get stuck in my throat and won’t go down.

I have a difficult time with eggs in all forms except puréed and thinned out

I can't tolerate eggs either. No matter how mushy (or delicious), once they go in, it doesn't work. I'm only 6 weeks out from surgery though - hopefully it will improve soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
