Okay today is my first day back to work after 3 months being off :-\ I'm not that excited because I work at the hospital that I did my surgery there is a lot of office politics that I truely avoid or I stay neutral I happy about my weight lost I just want to void about the question asking or aka interagation (spell check) LOL I shut down my Facebook and I don't answer my phone when my coworkers call me because they just want to be nosey wow thanks for reading I just want to let that out.

I hope things turn out well for you... Have you tried telling people you don't want to talk about your personal business??!!! I thought this just happened at my job!!! LOL...

So now it's time to start strut en your self and they will ask questions because you have made a drastic change to your body! You are lookin good now, and take in the compliments and I wouldn't hesitate in sharing your experiences. You have made a great change so keep up the great job!

i too was concerned about returning after 7 weeks off. My surgeon told me to accept the compliments and just keep repeating "thanks I feel great". It seems to work to ward off the attention and questions so far.

I am quite private about my personal life so nosey people are the bane of my life, I so hear you, my workplace just seethes with gossip.

When my friend was recovering from (successful thank goodness YAY! ) chemo and radio therapy etc and she was back at work looking so radically different, (gaunt and with Marine-style hair) she actually had a T-shirt made that said "I had treatment. I feel better now. 'Nuff said."

She would point to the T shirt when she needed space from nosiness and then would have a good laugh at her own expense when sometimes people who didn't know her would think it was referring to a mental illness and would scuttle off in alarm.

Not that I'm advocating this but wouldn't it be great if we could get a T-shirt made saying something like "Yes I'm thinner, I feel great, 'Nuff said"

Thanks everyone for ur kind words. Just an update Everyone at work stop what they were going to be looking at me and I was ignoring them I was acting like nothing had happen suddenly I will hear whispers and murmurs about me loosing the weight so the few people that did asked me I told them that I had a breast reduction (which true because of the weight lost) and I'm going to zumba classes 5 days a week my grand total of weight lost is 68 lbs but I told my coworkers it was round 25-30 lbs the funny part about of this was when my coworkers started talking about food everything sounded so good while they were munching on some chocolate and I was eating my Protein bar before I took my medical leave I looked like this

All I can say is I am extremely jealous of all you guys who have been off 3 mos, 7 weeks, etc. I was off 3 days and everybody here at my office was on my journey w me! Lol. I DIDN'T tell anyone but my top boss until later though. Good luck.

I was out 4 weeks so there really wasn't anything that noticeable except my change in eating, but I generally eat by myself while reading a book so nothing super drastic. My sleeve was the result of a slipped band so I told a few people I would be on a modified diet after they corrected my band problems, and have since told a few that I liked the progress I saw while on the post-op diet so I'm sticking with it.... and between that, and my restriction, it's working.

See how non-specific that is? One could easily interpret that I still have my band (most people knew I had one).

I say, revel in it! The reality is, people are going to talk about it, anyway. Might as well give them the facts.

I also had my surgery at the hospital I work at. My experience was very positive... Ppl were very supportive. I had same concerns you do. But I was actually surprised by responses and actions of coworkers. To be honest I kinda like everyone knowing because it made me accountable and make better eating decisions and food choices.I hope ur experience was as pleasant as mine. Good luck. I've been asked if I have cancer, *sigh*

I told everyone at work why I was going to be out. At first I was certain if I was going to do that or not, thought there might be some negative comments, and let's face it, I had finally faced my demons and there was some embarrasment about how out of hand my weight had gotten, and subsequently my health because of it. Then I realized I had nothing to be embarrassed about as I was "taking the bull by the horns" and my VSG would give me the tools I needed to get back on track. Well, I'm glad I told people. Everyone in my company that is aware has been so supporting and encouraging, it makes me feel that much better about my decision and lets me know I WILL be successful at this with all of the support I have around me both at home and at work.

I came back to work 12 days post op. My employer is working with me and I found I was really wiped after the 1st day, so I worked from home on the 2nd day.

I'm envious if the people that have lots of time off. I have to go back a week after surgery. I have a desk job so I hope I'm not pooped out.

Skane, I have a desk job too so I'm hoping to not be too wiped out when I return.

My surgery is scheduled for a Thursday and I've only taken the day of and the day after off. The following week I will be working from home. (I'm thinking me, the laptop and my cell phone nestled comfortably in my bed). My job is mostly support and troubleshooting so I'm figuring if I would've taken the time off I would've ended up working anyway.

Thankfully my coworkers and boss have been so super supportive. I think even when I do go back to work they'll go easy on me

My close friends know what I am doing and I honestly couldn't care less who knows or not.
