  1. I am at 9 months and I eat whatever I want. I could stand to gain a few pounds actually. Hit 94 pounds and I freaked - got back up to 109 and that's where i waver - between 114 and 105.
  2. I took a sip of a Dr pepper which I was addicted to before surgery when I was about 3 months out and YUK YUK YUK! Tasted totally nasty. I drink alot of tea now and that's better for me plus I just can't stand the taste of soda anymore
  3. Why are YOU driving to Tijuana? All the doctors I have ever seen offer a pickup once a day from the San Diego airport. That shouldn't be your responsibility.
  4. Thanks - I just looked at a bottle of tea I drink all the time and see I can't have that anymore either ugh - 75 grams of carbs. Oh well the yogurt will be good. I good suggestion to do to change the morning protein shakes up - a cup of decaf coffee mixed in with it - iced coffee
  5. Pardon my ignorance but what's a NUT?
  6. I would imagine it's because # 1 he is a troll or # 2 his attitude towards anyone that posted replies pretty much sucked.
  7. THANK YOU! I have actually been talking to a gal from another site who is local and she is doing AMAZING - a size 14 to a 2 since December and she eats steak and she also said she went right to the mushy food when she got home - Ramen Noodles, and didnt have a problem. I am not going to push my luck though - I won't try soda though I love it - that's a big reason I gained so much over the last few years I think we all take our own responsibility. I have had great experiences with US doctors and horrible ones too. Everyone keeps squacking about the strip mall vs the "real hospital" - I had a great result from a plastic surgeon in his office OR and horrible ones 6 times over 6 months with one that did hers in the hospital.
  8. I have been talking to a local gal that I met on the forum and she's 6 months out from hers and doing awesome. She told me the same thing - trial and error - I just hope I don't have much error lol I hate to be sick so I guess it will be another 5 weeks (that's about when I will be back to eating at least mushy food) before I can start testing the waters with the foods I am able to eat. One thing I really hope I can tolerate at least a little is a creamy salsa - I LOVE mexican food and I have a yummy salsa that I love - it's not chunky in any way and I was kind of hoping I could use maybe a little tiny bit on egg beaters once I scramble them up
  9. No disrespect here but why would anyone base their own diet and body on what others do here? I only have to be on 3 days preop liquid and others have practically ripped my head off because they have to be on it for 2 weeks - well they are also over 300 pounds and I am 170 so there is a big difference. I am not taking any advice other than my doctors
  10. Does everyone get on the scale constantly? Wouldn't that drive you nuts? I don't own a scale and I go by how my clothes fit - I am going to buy one for after the surgery but I don't plan on being on it every hour
  11. Thanks - and yeah I know it's going to be up to me - I still remember a snotty preop nurse years ago shortly after I had gotten clean that came up to me and handed me a presurgery valium and I said no thank you and I told her that I had only been out of rehab for 6 months - she got all snippy and rolled her eyes and said "Whatever". I came straight up off the gurney and said pardon ME???? Yeah WHATEVER to you too, now get out of my room - you are no longer a part of my surgical team. When my surgeon came in I told him what had gone on and he got red in the face and stormed out of the room to go find the nurse and gave her a good reaming. lol
  12. LOL Just had to laugh - "I then pushed the morphine pump" Yeah that's the ticket - make it go away so I can forget about it for awhile! lol That's what I will be doing I am sure. Thinking to myself oh this hurts so .... BAM ! I'm out Seriously though I am a little freaked out about this aspect of it - I have been clean and sober since Jun 2001 and I have always refused any pain meds since then. I pushed through the pain of 6 breast reconstructions with no paid meds. I even had all of my teeth pulled a few years ago and got dentures all in the same day with no pain meds. I seem to have a high tolerance for pain anyway so hopefully this won't be too bad. I hope anyway
  13. I have clothes in my closet that I can get BACK into - size 8's - so I am covered with jeans and tops til I go under that (if I do which I hope to) but as far as getting rid of xl tops - that's not going to happen - I LIKE wearing flowy tops - always have. Even when I was 115 pounds I still wore 3X mens sweatshirts with leggings sometimes. But I sure am looking forward to getting back into my size 8 jeans that's for sure.
  14. Everything I have read says NO neosporin - it's too greasy and it actually impedes healing. Hmmm
  15. So you had it done already and are where? Home or still in Mexico?
  16. I got that impression now too. As a newbie here I didn't get it til I started reading more into it. But never know, maybe there are some people that are this uninformed? Hopefully not but ....
  17. I think you are being very hostile to people trying to help you but my first thought was as some others - why are you even trying to eat a cheesburger 7 weeks out? I haven't had surgery yet but even I know better.
  18. My close friends know what I am doing and I honestly couldn't care less who knows or not.
  19. Hope you are done and not having a rough time. Be sure and post when you get time. June 27th is getting closer for me - I screwed up and thought I read the "no ibuprofren" was the 3 days prior but now I see it's 2 weeks so OOPS - I always take ibuprofren for morning headaches so no more now I guess til after surgery.
  20. I know "cross street speak" lol You must too being from California. I went back to my small hometown last summer in Illinois and asked someone for directions and I said oh just tell me the cross streets - they looked at me like I had 3 heads but someone sitting nearby laughed cause she was from Arixzona too. Anyway YEAH on the pottery and shopping ! Always up for shopping and I love out of the way places with unique things. If I buy too much hopefully I can send it home by postal. Went shopping with my best friend today at a mall and was looking at some really cute tank tops and I almost bought some in the 2 X large (I have big boobs lol) and I had to stop myself cause I know I won't be that size anymore soon. Thanks for the tips
  21. I am excited at seeing Mexico if only for a small part. I know alot of my friends go to Rocky Point for the annual bike trip there and I never had a passport, now that I do I can make that ride if I want to now. Are there any markets with things like pottery or "touristy stuff" near Jerusalem Hospital? I am hoping I can at least enjoy one day of getting out and taking some pictures and doing a little shopping.
  22. I am soooo glad I am flying in the nite before and I will be in Tijuana that nite before my surgery already then according to the patient advocate I will be in and out of surgery before the normal day group gets in from San Diego - means me getting to come home a day eariler too. I am not the most patient person in the world (Ok so I suck at it!!!) and for me to have to sit and wait I would go insane without my laptop and being able to do some work right up til they call me for surgery. lol I had a friend that asked if I wanted some company and I told her I would probably not feel up to having any company around me anyway and I now have decided to get my own hotel room on the nite they would normally send me to the recovery house so I can have a room alone and not be with a bunch of people i don't know plus I will be working from my hotel room anyway and the hospital probably too.
  23. Hmm that gives me a good idea. Why not take a Water bottle (I have several that I drink all the time and re-use anyway from the gallon jogs I fill up with good water) and make tick marks on that to make sure you are drinking enough? Hmm where's my black marker? lol
  24. I ordered some of this off Walmart and liked it so much I used quite a bit of it already so ordering more tonite - got the chocolate and the vanilla so far but this one sounds best of all. A half banana or a little sugar free yogurt? Yum http://www.walmart.com/ip/Body-Fortress-Super-Advanced-Whey-Protein-Chocolate-Peanut-Butter-Supplement-2-Lb/13274590
  25. Ahhhhh I just noticed your location. Send some of that cold here. But only a little - when it gets to 70 we pull our leather jackets out and when it hits 50 the full riding gear comes out - chaps, full face masks, gauntlet gloves lol But it's still better than snow
