Recommended Posts

Hi everybody! I hadn't updated either! My surgery was Tuesday, May 15th and I've been doing really well. I was released on wednesday to go home and just been on clears. I also have that heavy feeling in the chest but it just comes and goes. Overall I'm feeling great! :)

Thanks for the updates guys....I have to keep track of us lol.....I'm still doing well. I overdid it on Saturday by going to an all day music fest at the beach with my friend ......came home and slept all day Sunday so freaking tired......Lost 20lbs since surgery so excited about that...Still have low energy issues but I can sleep on my stomach and tie my shoes and a few other things I didn't plan on being able to do so early on. I will continue to update with any other news.....

@my gastric sleeve...congrats! I am glad ur doing well!!

Good luck to the May 15ths...I know there were lots of us...I am nervous!!! Let's get this done!! Meet ya back here!!

Hello --- it has not gone well at this point! I am back in the hospital for the third time sine my May 15 date. Many complications ..... Did not have as much stomach removed as a normal sleeve would. They left me with 35 % of my stomach... Not the usual 20%. Had hernia repaired, some growths on the spleen also. No cancer found. Yea for that ! God has blessed me.

Now it turns out that where my esphosgas and stomach meet there there is a twist in the esphosgas. Since the surgery I have not been able to keep liquid down. Been dehydrated and vomit daily. Since surgery I have gained 8.4 lbs to date. They claim due to the iv's......not sure I buy it all.

Tomorrow I will have another endoscope to see if they can stint the area, if not I will have a stomach pacemaker installed to regulate the stomach muscle electrically.

I have not given up ...... I just want to get better and lose the weight I set out to do. This was supposed to be the icing in the cake for me. I lost 87 lbs on my own so I was 200 before surgery ...then after liquid and Protein diet for 1 week had surgery at 191 today I weighted in at 198.4, and still growing.

This is not how it should have gone.... But I believe this also will pass and I will be able to share my success story soon.

Please keep in touch.

Thanks, Buffy

Well I had surgery on the 15th at 11am. Was out of recovery in my room by 5pm. I was kept an extra day because anesthesia was kicking my ass and BP was all over the place. I'm still out of it trying to figure out how to get my energy level up. I'm also dealing with Aunt Flow who decided to visit me today.. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

May 14 th for me. Down 33 lbs total, 12 of which were from the pre- op diet. Went back to work this week and I am working out or walking 30-45 min every day. Got a long way to go, started at 320 and presently at 287, but I'm feeling a lil better everyday.

Glad to see we are still checking in here. I had to have a talk with the Lord because this surgery was kicking my a??. I can now swallow without the extreme gurgling I had in the past which is helpful in getting my liquids in and Protein in....I notice I can now eat almost anything I tried without to much problems. I eat about 2 oz though still afraid to push it.....Learned the hard way and spent most if the day leaning over a trash or toilet . I've lost about 47lbs so far......gym has been sporadic but looking to get on schedule next week and once I get back to work I can use the gym there without too much hassle.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
