Had My 3 Week Post Op Appointment

Recommended Posts

Had my 3 week post op appointment today. 18lbs gone forever. :) my doc said I'm right on track and doing great. He cleared me for all exercise except swimming. I have to wait one more week for that. He was pleased with my progress. He did say I needed to cut my Protein down because I'm getting in between 80-100g a day. He said my body can start turning it into carbs. He wants me to stay between 60-80g. I'm pleased.

Thank you. Neither have I. He just said if I have too much, it will turn to carbs and my body will burn those as energy instead of my body fat. I plan to listen. He also wants me to eat all the time, every 3 or 4 hours to keep my metabolism up but said if I want to take a bite of Protein every hour to go for it just make sure I stay between 60-80g

I'm getting about 800 calories in. I use the amplified wheybolic extreme 60 Protein from GNC. I wake up and have a shake. It takes me about an hour to drink one, sometimes a little longer. After that, I drink a bottle of Water. For lunch I'll have about 2oz of Tyson chicken in water or I'll make a few egg whites. I drink another bottle of water. snack I'll have a babel cheese, more water or propel, dinner I'll have about 2ozmof tilapia and about a teaspoon of avocado. More water or propel. Snack another piece of cheese. I drink water til I go to bed. I also go to the gym every morning at 9:30 and walk about 2 miles every evening. Sometimes I drink another Protein Shake if I am hungry in the evenings but that is rare.

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your daily diet, too. I am one week out and trying to figure out how I will get Protein in once I switch some shakes for mushies.

I'm 3 weeks out and there is no way I can eat that much. I'm only on the purred stage and that doesn't seem to settle well. I will be glad when I can eat more variety.

Miturner, it's a struggle sometimes but my day starts at 7am and ends between 10-11pm. What I eat has high Proteins so I don't have to eat a lot to get my daily dose. I weigh everything out too and most times I don't finish it.

but i will make some adjustments and add more excercise

I have done well with weightless though- i am about 28 lbs out.

I will weigh in again on Sat.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
