2 Weeks Post Op Back At Work!

Recommended Posts

First day back at work (I'm a bank analyst so I sit all day) and so far so good. Had such a warm welcoming from my co-workers especially the ones who knew about my surgery. They noticed a difference so I was happy plus I looked fabulous today :-D showing off my slighlty smaller frame. I didn't feel like I was going to die hiking up to the building and 3 floors (elevator) to my desk so that's progress. I feel really good. Only thing that sucks is sitting i get a cramp where my largest stich is so I have to stand or walk on my breaks when I get the chance. Haven't had any problems with food so far just Tomato Soup which doesn't agree with me right now. Had about 1/2 cup of chicken salad and sugar free pudding for lunch, did a small walk. Feel relaxed. Day is going by fast. Glad my first day is going well! Really thankful I've been able to recover easily with no setbacks.

That's do great to hear I have not been sleeved but started my process. I'm glad u were able to get back to work fine. I'm the sole provider for my house and that is something that I fear having complications and having to miss work. congrats on your quick recovery.

Thanks Nisalet, I'm glad I didn't have to take more time I was starting to go stir crazy sitting at home and I only got paid 60% (been here less than a year) for the second week so I was eager to get back to making money LOL. How far in your process are you?

LOL I hear you. My process is slow due to the 6 month of monitored diet I'm going for my 2 month weight in next week, I had my 1st surgeon consultation and he did pre-op testing on me i'm guessing the will be re-done when my 6 month are done.

I'm strating the support groups which is also required by my insurance so as you can see I have a long way to go :) I'm here learning every day from you guys and hoping to be sleeved asap.

Thanks Kimmy, Nisalet before you know it six months will be up. I started the process in October and felt like it would be forever. Had 4 months then company switched insurance and I had to tack on an additional two months then boom it's April surgery time (got approved late March). Just make sure you get everything you need i.e. labs, psych eval whatever is required outside the appointments that way when time comes the office can submit and youll be on your way.

Congrats misstx. Maybe Tomato Soup is too acidic right now. I also had some aches and pains here and there. They've slowly dwindled.

Thanks Cmullin and Claudia good luck on your surgery I'm sure you'll do well! Overall good day despite me getting ahead of myself with bill millers BBQ pieces of turkey and scoop of hash brown. Sleeve definitely didn't like that :(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
