Hello everybody! I've been visiting this website alot the last two weeks. I am wanting to get sleeved soon. I live in Iowa and have my consultation with Lamasters on may 1! I am currently 303 pounds size 18/20 jeans and xxl shirts. I contacted BCBS and they told me that it has to be medically nessesary for me to have the sleeve, my BMI is 45, and the only thing that is wrong with me is feet and knees kill I have a long list of family history diseases including diabetes, lung, heart, and liver disease, also cancer. I know that if I dont do something now, I will end up that way. I have tried phentermine, Atkins, weight watchers, farrells, the 17 day diet, I lost weight, but gained it all back plus some. I am tired of being tired... oh I have tachicardia as well. I am currently in nursing school, I work at a hospital overnight, with the sleeve how much time will I have to take off? Thanks!

I was off for three weeks, but mine was a revision from Band to sleeve. Waiting for others to chime in.

I've read about people being back to a sedentary job in 4 days... but my surgeon (I am pre-op) recommends two weeks. All the best on your journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
