Normal Intake Two Weeks Out?

Recommended Posts

I am two weeks out from surgery and my stomach is acting very strangely. In the morning, I get up and make a scrambled egg with cheese and can't get in the last bite or two so I stop. However, tonight, I cut up half a chicken breast and chewed each tiny piece into little bits before swallowing. It took me 20 or 25 minutes to eat it, but when I was done I didn't feel full. I wasn't hungry, but I wasn't full either. Half a chicken breast seems like a lot two weeks out. How much were you eating two weeks out? I have been very careful not to stretch my stomach and am following the NUT diet religiously. I just don't know if that is normal or not.

Seems normal. I'm also two weeks out. April 9. Today was the first day of my two weeks of puréed foods. I am not allowed yet to have solids like chicken. Unless its a chicken salad puréed. I had one egg this morning and was able to finish it no problem. This afternoon I ate a few ounces of tuna salad. Felt satisfied. I would think half a chicken breast would make u feel full. Everyone is different though. Be grateful you can eat that. Some ppl can't seem to get the chicken down. :) I can't wait to try!!!

I am allowed to eat mushies at this phase. I also had my surgery on April 9th. I am cutting everything into tiny pieces and chewing it until it is total mush.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
