It probably is. Is there any sort of certification number on it?

TY Bo for responding. I got my answer just a few minutes ago from the doctors office :D I am 100% approved YAHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Got my first appointment on May 24 and if I don't have to have the scope done or choose not to, then we schedule the surgery date! I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel :D Now I know how you all felt when you got the great news.

Ya!!! Congrats Dixie!! Tomorrow is the 2nd part of the pre-op preparation meeting where I learn how to clean the drain that I will have for a week, I will receive my spirometer and practice using it correctly and learn more about the food stages (clear - mushy's etc.) We are not to add a single thing to our diet after surgery until they tell us, but we'll have a list, we'll get actual recipes for mushy stage. I was given a mixture of shakes, pudding, Soups (42 of them) for pre-op liquid diet.

On Thursday I see the surgeon and I will be given my surgery date. One week before surgery I will meet with their surgical nurse and we will go over my medications and she will tell me what to stop taking when, and she will order new prescriptions for those we may need to change because of their size.

I'm hoping for a May surgery date myself, but who knows, will let you know on Thursday night! WTG Dixie, can't wait to hear your surgery date.

Ya'll forgive me for posting this here but I just cant stand it lol. My daughter is expecting her 2nd baby, my fourth grandchild and found out today she is 1 centimeter dilated. Now I know that doesn't mean much cuz she could go on for awhile like this, but her due date is the 27th and since her baby is going to be a really big boy :o the doctor said next week if she hasn't had him they will induce. The reason I am telling this is I was hoping she could have him before I go see my doctor and start doing the 2 wk liquid diet. Would not be a pretty picture with her in labor and me on nothing but liquids trying to give her moral support lol. They would have to give me an epidural also hahahah. Ok I'm done with my story. :).

Awe Dixie, congrats and hopefully you'll do great during the 2 week liquid diet. I'm dreading it myself a bit. I have a surgery date of June 4th. My doctor does surgeries at 3 places. He does them at my hospital on Mondays and Memorial Day is in the way.... I start liquid diet May 21st.

Good luck to your daughter and good luck to you.

Ty Mina good luck to you also. I am trying to prepare my body for the liquid diet. Giving up my half n half in my coffee is the most major thing to start with. If I can conquer that then I think I can handle the rest.

Hey everyone just wanted to share my joyous news!!! My daughter gave birth to my 4 th grand child at 2:46 am. He weighed 10.2 # and is 23 1/2 " long. Momma did an amazing job and I am so proud. Now that baby linebacker Eli is here all I have to concentrate on now is my doc visit, surgery date and the two week liquid diet. After seeing what my daughter just went thru and did I know I can handle anything to do with my journey. It's so amazing how God helps you to see what He wants you to know. Let the journey begin! ????

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
