I've Been A Bad Boy...

Recommended Posts

Ok I've learned this trick..and its bad and I need to stop doing it.

If you take a 20oz bottle of soda....shake it real hard...and gently release the pressure out...about 4-5 times..it makes the soda completely flat of carbonation and goes in with no bloating. I've been doing this a time a two with the new Pepsi Max....someone tell me stop haha. Mind you I never had any issues after surgery..not even pain from surgery or food. Weight loss has been above average so far and I guess I'm treating myself with a flat soda here in there...but someone should slap my hand here..

When I was on liquids I was told I could have flat soda if it has no sugar or caffiene you may not be as bad as you believe! If you just have it as a treat maybe your are not as bad as you believe! HaHa

I actually do the Pepsi Max (no sugar) and have since 4 months out. No issues and no calories. You might want to rethink the Pepsi Next - not as much for the carbonation and caffeine, but the sugar. But, each person needs to decide their "crack" ... Mine is a small glass of wine several nights a week. YUM!!!!

I will never never ever have another soda. It is such a trigger food for me. I have just learned to deal with life without it. I've been caffeine free for 4 months and feel wonderful. Everyone says even diet soda is bad for you, so I gave it up.

Here's my advice: give it up completely. It's all chemicals and not good for your body period. Carbonated or not. And this is coming from a 4 bottle a day diet coke addict.

My skin, hair, nails, and teeth are so much better since I stopped drinking that stuff. I'm sure Vitamins helped but I believe getting those chemicals out of my body has helped as well.

I didn't have a soda addiction or problem pre-op, so I occasionally have a soda post-op - not even flat or anything. It's rare, so I don't worry about it. My dietician was OK with it, we discussed it at my 8 month appt on Thursday. However, if you were a soda junkie pre-op, I'd stay far, far away . . . I stay far away from certain things. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
