Sydney Institute for Obesity Surgery

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

Brand new to the board and will hopefully be geting banded shortly. Obviously everyone will have their fair share of questions about such a big decision.

I just wanted to know if anyone has any expereince or any stories, praise etc for the Sydney Institute for Obesity Surgery at Sydney Private Hospital in Ashfield.

This is where I went to a info seminar with Dr Laurant Leyani and is more than likely where I'll go. Just wanted to see if anyone's been down this path before.

Thanks all.

Looking forward to interacting with everyone more in future.

P.S. Where are all the guys at?

Dont know, but I do know somebody who had Dr Leyani (although she had her op on the Gold Coast I think) and speaks highly.

Hi,

I was banded in Sept last year & had it done Thur the Sydney Institute for Obesity Surgery in Ashfield. They actually do the surgery at the Holroyd Private Hospital in Guildford. I had my surgery done by Dr Michael Talbot. I didn't have any thing go wrong, & I've lost weight since having the op done. I've found every one at the SIOS wonderful. They are very quick. From the time I made my first phone call to the time of my surgery, it only took 2wks. Good luck with your decision, & feel free to ask me more questions if you wish.

Trish

Banded 27/09/2005

start 136.5kg

pre pregnancy 126.5kg

now 119.5kg

goal 70kg

8wks till band baby is due

Was banded by Dr Taylor at Sydney Private Hospital Ashfieldabout 1 month ago. Staff at SIOS were wonderful especially Anna and Maria- the office staff. Dr Taylor was amazing- surgery with no complications. Quick recovery and looking forward to my first fill on Tuesday. Minimal scaring and great excitement about the prospect of losing more weight.

Good luck with your decision.

Hi striver, the wait isn't that bad ive got 6 months left till i have my lbs and beleive me the wait's worth it ive stretched all my visits out over the next 6 months so that it feels like its going quicker

Im booked in at SIOS not sure who the surgeon is as i have to see the cardiologist first. So good luck

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
