I Thought Would Feel Different

Recommended Posts

I could really use some encouragement. I was sleeved 3/27/12. I know this is not an overnight fix but wondering if this is gonna work for me.

I have been extra depressed lately. I still feel hungry all the time. I'm down 18lbs but I lost 16 of that the first week & only 2 pounds since.

I try to get at least half my Protein in each day. I just want get smaller. I feel like I'm gonna fail at this like I do with everything else.

I have been able to handle anything I ate but to be honest I was hoping food would make me sick. I'm tired of being a slave to food. I don't wanna be fat anymore!!!!

I was sleeved on 3/28 and have lost 15 lbs for the first 2 weeks and then 3 lbs this past week for a total of 18lbs. Everyone says its good to loose slow so I am just trying to be patient. I have also been having a problem getting my Protein in, but everyday I try my best. I am dying to try junk food, but am too paranoid to hurt my sleeve that can potentially lead to complications. You are doing great, you will not fail. Email me any time you like and we can always compare notes. I have also gone through a bout of depression wondering whether I made the biggest mistake of my life...but I keep telling myself that I did this to become healthy and we will both get there.

I was sleeved no 3/28 and have lost 21 lbs. You are right on track and in the ballpark with the rest of us. Kick back, relax and enjoy your journey.

You're not alone....I was sleeved on 3/19 and had my one month follow up yesterday and I'm down 15 pounds since surgery and 38 total including the pre op diet. I was on antibiotics on week 2 for bronchitis and they said that slowed me down a little but they were happy with my loss. If you think about it that's half a pound a day. I never did that on any other diet I have ever tried. Keep your chin up and stay with getting in your Water and Protein and we will get there.

This is a turtle running a slow race. See me putting on my snickers? This is the most fantastic thing I have ever done. But I have to remind myself that this is a process and it takes time. I constantly have to readdress my fear of food. So I have resolved myself into eating Protein, veggies and little bit of starches. This has helped tremendously. I really have to not eat sugar or it will raise my A1C for diabetes. So slow is the way to go. and it might be better to not weigh yourself more than 1 x per week. It will drive you crazy. Sit back, and enjoy your ride to skinny haven. ;)

I have to chime in too. I was sleeved on 3/27. I'm down about 27 total from pre-op and 20 from surgery. I haven't lost any in almost 2 weeks. But like Bratvp says, it's more progress than I've made on most any other diet. I have to remind myself ALL THE TIME...."I didn't gain the weight overnight...."

Are you getting your Vitamins in? That will go A LONG WAY toward helping with depression. Those B-vits are critical. And getting out and exercising will help so much releasing good-feeling endorphins.

We ARE NOT going to fail this time! Hang in there. We can lean on each other!! Message any time if you want to chat!

Don't start thinking like that! However, it is normal to feel you may fail. But the beginning the weight loss just varies. First month is not telling of how it will go. When I was going into surgery, my nurse told me something I will never forget...."each journey is our own and you can not compare to others." I have had to tell myself this on multiple occasions. Do what they tell you, follow the guidelines and you will be successful!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
