Another Freaking Gain Grrrrrr

Recommended Posts

So I gained another freaking 2 ounces. Not even sure how that is possible since I'm following the diet religiously and walking everyday for an hour or longer while pushing 2 kids in a bulky stroller. It's really pissing me off. I can feel my clothes getting bigger but the dang scale keeps going up. What a pain. I don't want to get yelled at Monday at my first post op appointment for only losing 17lbs. I'm 2.5 weeks out.

Alot of things could be contributing to this. Water retention would be the culprit I would point at first. Then I would look at the other things... was there anything in your sleeve when you weighed? Are you "regular"? (Maybe TMI, but I "lost" quite a bit after my first real "movement" after surgery.) Try to be patient. It's not been very long, and I stalled out after week one and didn't start losing again until week 3, but am doing great now, at the end of week 4...

No I weighed first thing when I got up and after I peed. I am regular. I do retain a lot of Water sometimes but don't feel so bloated today. I did walk 3 miles yesterday and have been walking a mile everyday so who knows. I can't wait to see that scale moving down. It just worries me that I'm failing.

You can't be failing this early out. If anything your body is probably just freaking out alittle. It happened to me too. I know it's hard, but try not to get too disheartened. A couple of oz is nothing! I had to put my scale in the shed outside by the lawnmower so I would stay away from it. Now I only weigh weekly. Or less, because it's a pain to go out there. I find I see a loss every week, but the weighing once, twice, three times a day was driving me to madness. Up 3 lbs... down 4, up 2... you get the idea. Now it's always Oh! I lost Xlbs this week. Yay!

I definitely need to move it. I only weigh in the mornings but it is driving me nuts when I see it go up when I know I'm following the diet religiously. I go to my doc on Monday. Hopefully he doesn't tell at me. I'm down 17lbs.

I am in the same position of being 3 weeks out and not losing. I lost 25 lbs in the first 10 days and then gained back 6 and am just stuck at that same 6 lb gain for almost a week now. I'm stressed and not sure what I am doing wrong but I'm glad to hear that others have had some struggles in the beginning too!

I noticed that I started fluctuating on a daily basis. I would go up in weight and I would go down. It's our body adjusting and hanging on to fluids. It will go down. This is a great time to stop weighing yourself on a daily basis. I weigh myself one time a week, I don't want to see my weight go up and down because it frustrates me. This will pass and you will loose a lot more weight. ;)

My weight gain and loss has been a roller coaster since Surgery. I have learned to accept the changes in my body and to just keep pushing forward and ignore it. I am 11 months out and have lost a total of 94 pounds. It WILL happen for you too. Just be patient with your body and don't freak out when you notice a gain, eventually you start loosing again.

I was losing slow at the beggining as well. In my 3rd week I got some great advice that might help you, first take a day off from walking and on that day do some strength training, for example lift 3 pound weights, 3 reps of ten, then do some sit ups or crunches around 50 or so then try and do some jumping jacks or jump rope for 5 minutes. then just try and relax for the rest of the day. My trainer informed me that even this early out if you do the same exercise every day no matter how much you are doing or how little you are eating your body will go into maintenance and you will slow your weight loss down. I am 5 weeks out now and down 30. Only after varrying the exercise did I see a large drop, 6 lbs last week. I hope this helps. Good luck

I'll vary up just as soon as I get the clear from my doc. I'm only 2.5 weeks out so all I can do is walk right now. It's great advice though and will definitely be taken into consideration. I refuse to give up.

Try to stay positive and just remember that's 17 lbs that will be gone forever!!!! I won't be sleeved until Monday but I personally think 17lbs in 2.5 weeks is awesome. Ask yourself when is the last time you were able to lose 17 lbs. in 2 weeks. For me, ummmmmmmmmm how about never! LOL I always had to struggle and nearly starve myself just to lose 20 lbs over several months only to have it come right back along with 5 extra.

2 Ounces? Are you serious? There is no way you can be complaining about gaining 2 ounces. If you have a scale that is that accurate that you can determine if you gain 2 ounces, send it back to NASA. They will need it to weigh fuel for the next space mission. Seriously hun, if you are gaining 2 pounds every week, then you should be concerned, but 2 ounces, Come on, lighten up. You really got to be more patient in the process. :)

Yes I am complaining because at the start of the week, the scale went up 4lbs and I posted here crying about it too. So yes, I am serious.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
