My Surgery Is The Day After Tomorrow. Oh My!

Recommended Posts

I'm scared, excited, nervous... ready! I've had my life "on hold" for several weeks while waiting. I'm ready to move on and start with this new me! I missed out on life by hiding through my 20's. I'm 30 now and ready to "live" my 30's and enjoy my husband and toddler daughter.

I started at 258 before pre-op, now down to 244, 84 more pounds to go!

Any advice of what to take to the hospital?

Anybody else getting sleeved on Friday 4/20?

Ahh! I can't believe this is really happening!!

Best of luck to both of you! I only took a book, change of clothes for discharge, and toiletries. The less the better. I didn't pick up the book once. I slept for most of the time, if not sleeping, I was walking. Good luck and keep us posted!

I am May 3rd and I also wish I could have done this earlier But hubby would not have heard of it. Always said you can do it on your own. Well he is no longer living so I can do it now :). He died of brain cancer so now hi is no longer suffering. It is my turn for my health I am so happy I am on day 6 of of the liquid diet. I was bad yesterday and all I did was drink Water and did not get my Protein in. Sipping on a Spiru-Tein Cookies and Cream Protein Drink now and it is pretty good.

DogMom, I hear you on the irritable. I went through that also! Now that I'm so close the irritability has been replaced with apprehension. I'm ready to be done with the surgery and moving on. Good luck to you and Nikki D too!

Wear what you want to wear home and pack almost nothing. Your stay will be very short and your needs will be taken care of by the hospital.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
