Hey everyone I am looking for people around my same time frame of surgery to kind of comPare how we are all doing Individually. Until this past week I was struggling majorly with food and such. I started eating peanuts to help with my Protein intake. I am on soft foods and I don't eat only three times a day just yet because I am trying to get calories in. I have been at a stall for weeks now . I was a band to sleeve revision and started at a low BMi with the sleeve but still the scale hasn't moved in weeks. How much are you all eating? I notice I can eat faster now and more dense foods.

I am 5 1/2 weeks out... Started at 254 high weight, 244 surgery weight, and am at 217 now. I've been stalled for about a week, but find my clothes much looser and I'm digging into the clothes I boxed up about a year ago when I moved that I had outgrown. I am struggling to get in more than 5-600 cal/day, and having a hard time getting my fluids in (I just want to chug down the water! Not sip all day! And it just doesn't work!). Overall, my sleeve has really empowered my attitude over food, and I can't wait to see how far it takes me! FYI, I used to had a lap band, and it never worked. Wish I had done the sleeve first!

I will be 5 weeks out on Tuesday. I'm doing ok - I struggle to get in all the liquids and Protein but I've decided to give myself a break. I can only do what I can do right? I stalled for a week and then the scale moved - I've lost 4 lbs in the last two weeks. I guess I can't complain. I am on regular food now, but I stick to thinks that are still quite soft and so far I'm ok. I've also had some acid issues - I get a burning sensation in the back of my throat and it's horrible! I've started light exercise and boy am I sore! I am really tight in my stomach area and its almost like I can feel my sleeve. Anyone else have this? I've also been super emotional - some days I am a mess!! Glad I found this post.....I'd like to hear how I measure up to everyone at their 5 week mark! :) :)

I had acid reflux horribly with my band, but thankfully not with the sleeve. My doctor has his patents take dexilant I believe is the name of it after surgery for a while. I can honestly say it does wonders. My newest thing is craving peanuts. Honey roasted. I know it's not the best but I too have struggled with calorie intake and etc. I need to work on my Fluid intake. How often do you eat since we are still early out and trying to keep a daily goal of Protein amounts?!

At 6 weeks my plan allows me to eat just about everything except Pasta, rice and untoasted bread (have to wait 3 months for that). I usually have a Protein Shake for Breakfast usually Atkins vanilla with blended strawberries in it- takes me about 2 hours to sip it down on the way to work and the beginning of my work day, and the. I have rolled lunch meat and cheese for lunch with another Protein shake for the afternoon, and dinner is usually some meat like rotisserie chicken or beef tenderloin (I don't like seafood) and a small salad (no lettuce) or veggies. One of my dirty little secrets, is that I occasionally like to lick the coating off Doritos for some flavor... And throw away the chips!! I really need to start exercising, just need to find something I can get motivated to do- maybe an exercise bike or treadmill- anyone use the ifit? Is it cool?

I hit the 5 week mark on friday. My diet guidelines were Clear Liquids for 2 weeks and then soft foods for the next 2 weeks and then regular food but my doc asked me to stay away from very chewy meats. I'll give you an example of what my daily food intake is. I don't really count calories i just make sure im satisfied.

7.00 am - Protein shake with skim milk

8.30 am - scrambled egg white with a slice of toast. ( takes me awhile to eat but i chew slowly, initially i could only have half a slice but i can manage 1 slice)

Snack- handful of strawberries and blueberries

Lunch- small piece of fish about 1/4 of a fillet and 3 tablespoons salad

Snack- babybel cheese or deli turkey or ham (1 slice)

Dinner- lentils 1/4 cup or grilled chicken with a tablespoon or 2 of veg.

Hope that helps.

I am about 6 weeks out. No nausiea really. Able to eat want i want now losing about 2.5 lbs a week. Happy with that. Had a couple of lost weeds three and four, doctor said this is normal. I have found that pork is to dense to eat, beef (one of the better cuts) is good if rare, chicken is good but fish is the easiest to eat. I'm sticking with the low carb diet as best as i can it keeps me centered. I can still only eat about 2 oz. liquid shake once a day. I need to excercise but my job is very demanding its hard to get motivated.

I'm going to be 5 wks on Tuesday. I'm doing well with some foods and then not so well with others.. I'm down 38 pounds as of this mornings weigh in.. don't know if that's on track or too slow. Finding myself wanting to chug Water (which is impossible).. but I have been doing well with Protein and water intake. I'm super obsessed with the scale which was horrible when I was on a stall. That was at about my second wk but also had my period..

I too am super obsessed with the scale. I noticed one of you said no rice last week I had a little with my Beans and chicken. I did ok with it but will stay away from it from here on out. I really need to focus on all the healthy Snacks again. I started letting myself have things with more calories because I was getting maybe 300 a day in. I hope I haven't given myself a leak, but in sure I would know if I did. I have had shoulder pain the past two days but I think it's just gas because I have woken up burping. Anyone else?!

HI!! I am right around 5 1/2 weeks (surgery March 8). Doing very well. I feel very 'normal'. From my highest weight of 257 right before my pre-op diet I am down around 32 pounds. I feel so much better. The weight comes off at about 3-4 pounds a week now. I did have a stall the 2nd and 3rd week, but now I am back to losing pretty steadily. I eat pretty much what I want. I don't really have much room to go off of plan because I don't drink Protein Shakes. So I try to eat as much of my Protein as I can. I don't have room for carbs and I am slowly but surely working on that 64 oz. goal of fluids per day, but not quite there yet. I take my Vitamins everyday, and I have to say I am doing fairly well. Just enjoying life!

5 weeks out today & stuck! :( Haven't lost anything the past 2 weeks. Matter of fact, gained a pound! It's too early to stall like this. I did lose 37 lbs total as of 1 1/2 weeks ago. I have to say I'm quite disappointed at the moment. I'm wondering if this is going to work for me or not. I'm unable to exercise because of back issues but make sure to keep active doing other things, every day. I go back to the Dr this Friday. If I haven't lost or God forbid I gain I'm going to lose it! It's depressing. I don't want to fail. I'm not a big drinker so only getting 30 oz or so daily. I wonder if I should ask the Dr if I need an endoscopy to see why I'm not losing & constantly stay hungry! Even though I can only get a few ounces down at a time.

This was a self pay. Praying I haven't wasted our $$. Help! Anyone else having any of these same issues?

Im only 4 weeks out but just wanted to ask those of you eating bread, when did your doctor or nut give you the ok for bread? I really want a grilled cheese sandwich. I'm supposed to be on pureeds, however I can pretty much puree anything in my mouth.. lol

I would skip the grilled cheese until a later date. Also I too have been at a stall for maybe 3 weeks. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Very frustrating. I was a low BMi to start with from band to sleeve but still I would expect to have lost lots more. Since before surgery and now I have lost 14. I see all these amazing weight losses and I get very discouraged.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
