Am I Drinking To Fast? Sleeved 4/9

Recommended Posts

I am having no problem getting my Water and Protein in. I can finish my Soup or hot cocoa (8oz) in twenty minutes. Am I drinking to fast? I'm not having any throat or stomach problems. Should I be worried?

Hi there! April 9 for me too and I'm the same! I have no issues. I get all my fluids in no problem. Each one takes me some time but I'm basically drinking all day. I was wondering the same thing. I have gurgling but no pain.

I have never had any problems (well the first day or two in the hospital :) ) getting my fluids in. Some do and some don't.

I was sleeved on 3/22. My experience with liquids is similar to yours. I too wondered if I might be drinking too quickly. That was until, I did drink too much too fast. Mr. sleeve definitely let me know with pain and burping. My conclusion was that if the sleeve doesn't complain its no too quickly. Just to be sure I intend to ask my surgeon when I see him this week for my one month follow up.

Listen to your sleeve, it is going to tell you what you can and cannot tolerate. I would drink as much as you can without significant discomfort. Pace yourself. Staying hydrated at this point is a daylong task.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
