"vomiting" Sort Of Have Questions Need Advice

Recommended Posts

I am 16 days post op and up until a few days ago I have had minimal problems. Wednesday and today I have had bouts of "vomiting" meaning I feel really sick my mouth gets watery I go to the toilet my stomach tenses but nothing comes out. This is even after drinking 2 minutes before. I am dry heaving basically. My question is that normal for sleeves? Since our stomachs hold so little can I just not throw up normally?

Oh, you can throw up normally. It sounds like what you have are "slimes." They come from eating or drinking too fast, too much, or something your stomach can't tolerate yet. Slow yourself down, keep tabs on what is making you feel bad, maybe try to avoid it for a while. You are a very new post-op and it takes a little while to get used to how your stomach responds now.

I second that ^

When I was at your stage I threw up alot. Some days I could tolerate a product other days I couldnt. Water sucked, apple juice was gold. Apple sauce, Soups, eggs= toilet for me. I havent tried them again yet. I chocolate proteined it out. Now I might throw up once every few days due to trying new things

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
