Saggy Skin.

Recommended Posts

I have not been sleeved yet but I was wondering if there are some of you guys that started at about my weight 280 and lost 100 pounds did you have alot of saggy skin. I'm 31 years old I've never had a child and I'm 5feet 4inches.

Honestly I don't mind the saggy skin if I'm healthy but I would like to hear how some people have done :)

thanks for the feedback.

Yes you will have sagging skin. My friend was 250 and lost 100 pounds. She had hanging skin in her inner thighs, belly, and arms. The belly skin was removed via a Tummy Tuck 2 years after WLS because she was getting a rash. Good news is that her insurance pick up some of the cost...it wasn't a lot but something is better than nothing. The arms and inner thighs she decided to live with. She wear 3/4 sleeve shirt and a body shapers under her pants.

I have lost 50 lb and I already have hanging skin in the same areas. I also wear 3/4 sleeves and body shapers under the pants. I plan on getting a tummy tuck and lazer lippo in my arms and inner thighs in 2 years.

From my research, it depends on how long you've been overweight (how long has your skin been stretched out), genetics and health. How long have you been overweight? Did your mother or sisters ever have loose skin after weight loss or repeated birthings? Do you or have you ever smoked? Do you wear hats and sunscreen when outside?

How quickly you lose the weight will be a factor, too, but if you have good elasticity, determined by the above factors, it should rebound after some time.

I believe these are the factors for saggyness. I have lost just over 100 pounds and I do have sagging skin, but as time has gone by, it is getting better, but I am sure when all is said and done, I will have some excess skin. I currently use some compression shirts and pants/shorts when I run to keep everything held together.

i was 323 when I had surgery and just hovering above 100 lbs lost. Im 44 years old and have been overweight (at least over 250 lbs) for over 10-13 years. I look like a melted candle in the upper arms and inner thighs. The triple d boobs are now a small double d and my butt feels like a deflated tire. I still need to lose about 82 more lbs. so who knows what I will look like by the end of it. that being said, I am off me blood pressure meds and my high cholesterol med. there's nothing that can replace how great that feels. I feel great, starting to workout with a personal trainer and loving life.

I have lost almost 80 lbs, and have virtually no skin issues. My upper arms and upper inner thighs are a little flabbier than I would like, but they are getting better with exercise. I would like to lose another 37 lbs or so, and I really hope my skin continues to hold up this well!

I am much older than you, you could be my daughter, I have been sleeved almost 7 mos, have lost 77 lbs, at first I had LOTS of saggy wrinkles, then I started walking, and lifting weights, I do not have any sagging skin except on the backs of my arms.. and I am going to work on those.. My face, neck all have tightened up very well, I was and am amazed but my Dr told me up front to lift weights, it is much better for us than zumba, arobics, etc, he explained when you lift weight, you continue to burn calories for hours AFTER you have stopped.. I just renewed my six month membership at the gym.... NOE if I can get the Dr to fill out a paper saying he sent me to gym, I can claim it on my Flex plan at work!!! :D

Best of luck to you!

I had read somewhere that using special lotions and creams can help give your skin some help with the elasticity. Does anyone know of anything that is supposed to be good? I'm terrified of saggy skin!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
