Aspiration pneumonia? Never heard of it but it sounds like something I'd be prone to. I often thought I took Water int my lungs while coughing or from food going down the wrong pipe, or coming back up, which used to happen often when I overate. Where on the boards can I find this post?

As far as drinking before bed, I disagree with the 3 hour rule. I drink all night long because I live in the desert and my throat gets too parched to sleep. As long as I don't eat late I'm able to take in a lot of liquids. However, if I eat too much dinner or if I have a snack at night, I sometimes feel a little burp of liquid coming back up. I think it's all about food in the pouch.

A bad habit I'm trying to break is snacking after dinner. My normal weight friends don't eat anything after dinner (some of the sickos don't even eat dinner) so I'm trying to have only liquids after dinner. I'm having tea with honey, Decaf, or juice, and I'm able to sleep comfy.

I think my problem has alot to do with being too tight. So, I would say to all of you that don't have a problem with eating or drinking before bed, keep doing it. I just could not do it anymore. But, you are talking to someone who by no means could eat a whole chicken thigh, a teensy bite of bread, basically living off of lemonade and a couple of bites of food a day...

There's just so much to learn here. Did they do your fill under fluorscopy? If so, how come they filled so tight? Is your tight restriction normal? And why the hell don't we all get skinny faster considering we are barely eating? That was a rhetorical question, naturally, but who said life was fair? Kelly, you're lucky to have a doctor nearby that can see you. I found a local one that charges $150.00 for a consult, then $300 for a blind fill, or he'll do it under fluoro if I pay the hospital in addition to his charges. My port scar is pretty scarey so I'm close to making a consult appointment. It's a big lump that you can see through my shirt. Like a giant red caterpillar ready to explode. How about all of have a normal day tomorrow?

I can't explain it, but here's the thread:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/GraduateBandsters/message/8153?threaded=1

One of the responses to the thread was:

"My doc said it is very common about half his patents at goal are this way. I've been at goal for a good while. I was banded at the same time (8-01) as three friends and we are all at goal by now. 3 of us needed several smal unfills after goal until the new reflux went away and we all take nexium or somethiung like it. Of course you need to not expect the band to keep you thin, just as the band did not stop you from eating bad things."

Well, I went yesterday and got 1 cc out. I had 2cc's in there and he took 1 and told me in 2-3 weeks to call if I want some more in there. He said that now that I am able to eat "real" food that I will probably lose more. I have been living on junk food. I am very glad that I did this. I can drink and it don't get stuck. I feel a whole lot better. In the mornings when I woke up I would feel like something was stuck, I actually think that my stomach was closed. I would try and drink something warm to see if I could unclog it and in reality, my stomach was actually closed. This morning it doesn't feel like anything is stuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :):D

Kel, I'm wondering how they charge you for fills and unfills. Do you have to pay for every office visit? Getting a fill is an expensive journey for lots of us who have to fly to Mexico or drive several hours. I hate to think of flying to get a fill then flying to get an unfill, plus paying the doctor's charges.

O.K. I will tell you, but don't shoot me. My insurance covers the fills and ufills at 100%. I don't pay anything. I was thinking about getting on my husband's insurance through his work and I called the dr's office to find out about coverage for the fills, and I would only pay the $ 15.00 copay. But, please don't hate me.

I don't hate you, and I refuse to grit my teeth over this. I have dual insurance coverage (my work plus hubby's.) Neither of my insurance companies would cover the band. I was told to appeal it and was also told that I could probably get my doctors to get the insurance companies to pay. However, one goal in my life is to eliminate any excess stress, so I didn't even try to appeal.

Rock on that your insurance covers 100%. Lucky you!

I've been getting my nails done twice a month for 2 decades. I gave up that luxury, plus I cancelled our Arrowhead Water delivery and brought one of those Britta filters. These two expenses plus what I'm saving in fast-food will pay for my band. Oh, but my insurances would have covered bypass surgery. Maybe one day they'll cover bands for others.

Well....now I can eat anything. Even tiny bites of bread!! I am gonna be gaining weight like crazy. I am watching what I eat. I have scheduled to get some more saline put in on July 5th. I am not sure that I will be able to wait that long. I am only gonna get .5 cc's. My little boy's birthday party is this Sat and instead of losing 10 lbs, I will have gained 10 lbs. lol.....Hope all is doing well.

It may not make a whole lot of difference, but it should make some. I have 1 cc in there and I ate a whole nachos bellgrande from Taco Bell. What time to you to today? I am going to his office this afternoon to do a commercial. I may see you there.

I can't believe I missed this post ! ARGH !!!

lol

I am/was having the same problem. I posted on the boards the other day

http://lapbandtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2052

I've stopped drinking or eating 2 hours before I sleep & it seems to have stopped it - or at least cut it right down. Hope it does the same for you...

How are you getting on now that you've had some fill out?

Aud x

Audrey, I can eat way too much. I am going in today to get .5cc's put back in. I have not woke up choking or coughing since I got some taken out.

Joyce, Yes, I will be in the commercial. The fill takes about 1 minute and it does not hurt. Let me know how you do!! Good Luck!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
