Reason For Time Off

Recommended Posts

I havent had my surgery yet...its May 10th. but ive only been at my job 2 months..itll b 3 on May 2nd. I havent told my job anything frankly because...i dont know what to say and im scared ill lose my job. i really need my job it took me 2 years looking for a perm job while working temp. My surgeons office says they want me to take 2-3 weeks off. but thats a really long time. But my husband tells me to not stress...that stress can also affect the surgery and that we'll b ok. but obviously i need to tell my job wether its good or bad outcome. another thing is i need to pay 2500 upfront so if i tell my job now im scared theyll let me go before i hit my 3 months and therefore ill lose out on 2 more paychecks before surgery that we're counting on to go towards the 2500.

ughhh im just confused.

Why not just keep it simple I have to have a medical procedure and will be out of the office for at a min. 1 week and at the most 3 weeks. I had mine on 3/21 and went back to work for full days the following Thursday. But worked 1/2 days the Monday after my surgery

aww thanks! im hangin in there! i think im gonna get started on my liquid diet earlier bc i know ive gained sinced my initial consultation with the surgeon back on Janurary.

weighed in at 293 back then. im sure ive gained. and talked to the surgeons office and the said he would like for us to lose about 10lbs. not that hard but try adding about 15 extra that i probably gained. ooowiiee!! lol. jesus help me!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
