Having "girl" Problems - Ladies, Please Respond!

Recommended Posts

I hadn't had a period in a year when I had surgery 4 weeks ago (today)... 4 days post op, I started on my own. My GYN had already told me post op I would have to start taking progesterone to regulate my cycle so even though I started on my own on Wed, that Fri I started day 1/10 progesterone. My period lasted for 17 days. Fast forward to today-I started again.. UGH... So it is sounding fairly common post op for us to be having wonky periods... HTH, Jenn

Do you think that not getting your period can cause weight gain? Are you not allowed to use tampons after surgery?

I don't think it would cause weight gain. Just consider the bloating that comes along with it though. Although you will bloat and probably retain Water, after your period that should all calm down and you will be right back to where you should be. I always gain about 3 lbs of Water weight while I'm on my period, then when I weigh myself a couple days after I have ended, i'm down 5-6 lbs. I haven't heard/seen anything saying that you can't use tampons after the surgery.

I got my period about a week after surgery and it wasn't due for about 2 wks after surgery. It lasted 14-15 days! I didn't get my next period til 41 days later. It lasted about 5-6 days. This had my freaked out because my periods were normal like clock work before I had the surgery. I got them every 28-29 days on time. Now it's like a guessing game and I'm only a little over 2 months out.

I'm so relieved to hear other women having this issue! I am almost 56 yrs old and thought I was post-menopausal. HA ! Not only am I losing weight, I am getting younger !!! I haven't had a heavy period but definitely a period and it seems to be lasting for a couple of weeks rather than the old normal 5 days. I wonder what other things I have stored in my fat..... the 70's are kind of a blur.... ;)

I haven't had my period at all!!.. I had a Mirena that was taken out 2 weeks before surgery per my surgeon's request. Making a GYN appt for next week... I hope she can just pop it back in and not make me have a cycle before.. fingers and legs crossed!!!

I have had bizarre periods for the last 5 years - they're finally starting to regulate since surgery. I thought about mirena or something else for birth control - I can get pregnant, but I can't carry a baby to full term due to other medical conditions so even without surgery, a proper method of birth control is necessary - so to be smart, my hubby has decided he'll "retire the swim team" :) What a trooper!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
