This is my first post on this or any other web site. I am almost 6 weeks post-op. I go tomorrow for my first fill. I weighted 240 lbs. the day I had my surgery. I lost 10 lbs. the first 2 weeks and then another 5 lbs. I seem to have stopped and it really is depressing to go through surgery (which I had to pay for) and the recovery and and I have only lost 15 lbs. I sure hope things go better after my fill tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I had surgery on July 18, and lost 10 lbs. post-op and 8 since than. I realize that this is a time for healing...so why be depressed. I'm thrilled with the 18 lbs. without my first fill which I don't get till Aug. 30. I think you have done fine.

I've been told by pretty much everyone in my surgeon's office that the 6 weeks after surgery are not about losing weight. They are about letting your tummy heal, and if you do lose weight, it's a bonus.

You've lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks, that's 2.5 pounds a week, which is really good!:clap2:

The band doesn't help you really until it's properly adjusted, and it may take more then one fill to get there. So, be patient. Yeah, I know that's easy for me to say!

If you're depressed now, it's going to be a long tough road to your goal weight.

1 - 2 pounds per weeks is the AVERAGE weight loss you can expect to experience with a lap band. You've had 2.5 per week so far. That makes you a rabbit. I think you need to reevaluate your expectations of your new tool, and try to think in the long term. You didn't have a gastric bypass where you lose 60 pounds in 3 months. You had a gastric band, which allows you to maintain a diet and exercise regimen which will help you achieve longterm health. At 1 pound per week, you can realistically expect to lose 52 pounds during the coming year. It also means you can expect to lose 104 pounds during the next 24 months. Starting to sound a little better? If you want to boost those numbers, you can add exercise to your lifestyle and increase either the number of pounds you've lost or the number of calories you can consume to continue losing at the same rate. Either way, those are pretty good stats. Give yourself some time. Exercise some patience.

I do understand how you feel. Some days I become frustrated and feel like I'm NEVER going to lose the weight. Then I go look at my log on www.FitDay.com and I see that I'm averaging 1.33 pounds per week - exactly as my doctor told me I could expect.

The time will pass. There's no way around that one! lol It will pass, and you will lose weight.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
