I think that losing 100 pounds in a years is pretty awesome. & you'll definitely get there. One day you'll wake up & you skinny & then you'll could be like me struggling to not lose anymore. That's the hard part right now is I don't want to be too thin & look unhealthy. Keep doin what you doin & you'll get there.

I never exercised one time. I have RA lupus fybro & back surgery chronic pain the list just keep going so i really couldn't exercise & the thought of Water aerobics kinda grossed me out I'm not a big fan of public pools. Lol & I still lost all the weight i needed to & I didn't drink multiple nasty Protein Shakes a day. At first I did but when I was able to eat food I just ate small portions & that did the trick. I stay in bed a lot due to pain & id weigh myself I'd lost 10-15 pounds sometimes doing nothing.

Wow to have the problem now of not wanting to lose anymore weight!!??? I lose very slowly- like 1lb a week but as long as I'm losing and not gaining, I'm happy!

How do I fit in Protein during the clear liquid stage? Or do I start protein after the clear liquid stage?

You should always ask your doctor- I've seen so many different restrictions with regard to diets for the sleeve that we could be giving you the wrong advice- I was never on Clear Liquids or a pre-op diet either and many can eat Peanut Butter or mashed potatoes and my doc says no- so find out as it varies

Hello Aug 25th group. I did it too and ever since lost 11 lb., but the burning and pain in my chest is not getting better.

Any suggestions? Does anyone know what causes it? How long does it last?

Hello I was sleeved Aug 24th and going through the same thing. The burning and pain usually hits me late in the evening when Im sleep but yesterday it hit me in the middle of the day and lasted throughout the night such a horrible feeling. I took a teaspoon of mustard which helped subside the burning feeling a little. My nurse recommended Nexium for now until I have my post f/u this Wednesday. I will definitely pick up some today.

I almost 2 months out of surgery, I still find it very hard to eat the amount they say I should. Is this normal and I am also at a stall, but this may be because I have been so busy that my exercise is not the same. And getting a full balanced meal rarely happens, I am just concentrating on eating the meat. If I get any of the other stuff in I consider that a bonus. My loss so far is 40lbs, from 2 week pre-op to now. Is all of this normal and or ok?

I would check with doc about flaxseed. My guess is that you need to wait awhile since it will expand in your stomach and might be too much to digest. My NUT said not gummie Vitamins, chew-able child Vitamins were fine as long as they weren't gummie. So again, check with your surgeon or NUT.

My roommate is wondering if she will still be able to have enough calories to balance out for her high endurance training in the future to do the Ride for Life (545 mile bike ride in 7 days) if she were to get the sleeve surgery. Any tips or advice i can give her?

Thank you so much for posting all of this information. My surgery is next Wednesday and this will be a great tool for me. It's pretty much right on target with my surgeon's advice.

I am really worried about throwing up after surgery. Are surgeons ususally good about anti nausea meds. Just anesthesia make me sick and ao does pain med. I definately don't want to be sick right after surg...

I have OCD & anxiety & I have a HUGE fear of throw up.... I made it EXTREMELY CLEAR to my Doc & Anesthesiologist that I had these issues & DID NOT WANT TO THROW UP AT ALL... When I woke up or at home. I heard a lot of people say for the first month they are nauseous!!! Ohhh hell no!!!! I would not be able to handle that! So I made it very clear that it was a MAJOR MAJOR FEAR .... They were awesome!! They gave me the scopalmine patch behind my ear for surgery & loaded me up on zofran also & then they gave me some third anti nausea med also before surgery also....so I had 3 meds working on me when I work up from surgery. Not once was I sick or nauseaus!! Then they also loaded me up to go home with the zofran & the scopalmine patch also! I took it for the first few weeks lol I wanted to stay ahead of it so I didn't get behind & think I felt fine & then I feel sick or get sick! So I was totally fine!!!! Wooooo hooooo!!!! You can do this!!!!!!! Just make it VERY VERY clear that it is a HUGE FEAR of yours.... Not that you don't want to.... That it is a fear. Good luck girl. Let me know how it goes! ????????

Mandycandy/Lexuskela....I had my surgery on 9/21/15. The pre-op nurse placed a silver sticker behind my ear, and I wore it til yesterday. Said it helped with the nausea. I've only got nauseous once, when I took my pain meds evening of day 1 post-op. It's a sicky-sweet Syrup, about gagged me. I haven't had to use it since yesterday, and have not had any pain meds yet today. It's hard to eat everything you are supposed to. I concentrate on the Protein first, and if there's for anything else, it's a bonus as well. I was in the hospital overnight, and they kept me full of fluids. I gained 6.5 pounds, but as of this morning I've lost that plus 3 more.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
