Experiences After Immediately Waking Up? Comment Please..

I work in surgery -anesthesia is very safe-sedation given before you leave holding area(pre op)-You probably won't remember going to operating room-you'll get pain med and anti nausea medication before you awaken from anesthesia-when you wake up you'll find it hard to believe surgery had taken place-

I woke up drenched in sweat. I was so hot. I thought I peed myself , my gown was wet under me. I then realized that my hair was damp and it was sweat. I'm not usually a sweaty person. My sister and the nurse changed my gown and my sister blasted the a/c for me. I felt better after that. My sister took a video of me talking after and I appear dopey but ok. My bf says I was complaining less than I do when I have a minor cold lol.... Everyone that walked in to the hospital room shivered that night lol... my poor sister, who stayed there. My sister did have a breast reduction a couple months before and had the weird hot thing too... not sure if it is something in our family.

I had my surgery in Mexico and they kept on top of the pain ... they used NSAIDS instead of narcotics though... I haven't needed any since post op day 3

I was in significant pain and made maximum use of the pain relievers that were hooked up. I do not believe in unnecessary pain and I have no intention of being a hero at the expense of my comfort. I will say, however, that the pain abated rapidly and within a few hours I was having only mild discomfort. Walking, etc., was easy at that point so I did as much as I could to avoid the gas problems that plague many patients. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. No two cases are the same and your mileage may vary.

My surgery was on April 12, 1012...that's right three days ago. I can tell you what it was like for me waking up. I actually remember them taking out the breathing tube. That wasn't fun at all. Then I remember saying how much pain I was in durring post op. It wasn't until I got to my room that the nurse saw the meds they had me on wouldn't work due to my chric pain issues. The fist night is painful but not unbearable. My second day was my worst as I had a lOT of nusea. Once they fixed that with a patch, I got better quickly. I have been home for around six hours already and the pain reminds me of really bad craps. The wost part is trying to get all the food and liquids down. I have been focusing on my liquids today and tomorrow will try to get more food in me. I have to keep telling myself that this pain is only temporary and I will begin to look and feel much better very soon. Good luck with your surgery!!!

I just got home from the hospital today and my surgery was on 4/12. I'm not gonna lie to you, my experience with pain was pretty darn bad. When I first woke up in recovery I was in agony and I couldn't understand WHY the nurse wouldn't give me something for the pain. She kept saying I had to get to my room first and then went back to looking at the chart in her hand! Next thing I knew I was in a room and they were giving me pain meds through IV. I hated that I was at the mercy of the nurses to get pain meds. My doc prescribed them to be given every 3 hours on the dot but they would refuse to give them to me even 5 minutes early and then would be 10 minutes LATE in getting them to me. This was unacceptable and my doctor threw a huge fit and made them set up a pain pump for me instead. After I go the pain pump the pain was so much more manageable. He said that he too was extremely irritated with the hospital and wishes that he could have done the surgery in the one he preffered. After the pain meds incident he visited me 3 times each day to see if I was doing ok and I think he shook things up around there for the better I hope. I'm home now and hoping to put all of that drama behind me and start my new life. I'm sure your experience will be much better than mine...IT HAS TO BE!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
