It was for me. Sleeved 2/29 there weeks out today and I feel great. The first week was the worst. I didn't most if the day sleeping. It strange how quickly your body comes around. I often described my first week as feeling like I had literally been in my dryer but it gets so much better.

Call your doctor and ask for something stronger oh you can.

Hello Bella143!

I was sleeved on Monday the 12th, a week before you and I can say the pain/soreness will get less with each day. I am now 9 days out and still have a little soreness in my left side area. In my experience I did try to walk/move around as much as I could. Went back to work one week post op. Seems like when I was in the bed or laying around the soreness would be worse. But it will get better I promise!

Let me know if you have any questions for me since our surgeris are so close together.

Good Luck!

I agree. The pain is temporary. You just had your stomach removed!! The 1st week is uncomfortable, but by your 4th or 5th day you should feel a little better everyday. Focus on your Fluid intake and WALK. Good luck!

It is completely normal, you just had major surgery! Get up and walk as much and as often as you can, it helped me tremendously! I was out shopping 3 days out, I needed to walk. Call the doc and see if there is anything else they can give you for the pain, no need to suffer if you dont need to. It will get better soon, hang in there!

I had my surgery last Thursday, and I have to agree with everyone...it gets better. I was literally at the mall shopping Saturday night when I had my surgery on Thursday. I think the moving around does help...but at the same time, you need to not overdo it, but get moving, it does help.

I hope you feel better soon. Six days out and I feel pretty good...just still sleeping a lot and taking it easy. It will get better, and we are here for you! :)

Wow thank u all for your encouraging words!! I feel sore and gassy so maybe the gas is what is hurting more-not sure. I do feel more sore when I sit, trying to walk as much as possible. Getting liquids down is hard and I don't feel hungry. My pain meds aren't working at all.

Oh, sweety, I'm sorry. I know it sucks. (and I'm not someone who uses 'sweety' ever, but I really do feel your pain....well remember the pain and it can be awful.) Tell your doc that your pain meds aren't doing anything. Your doc will do something. I found Toradol and Percocet was the best for me since i was allergic to Lortab and morphine. But tell your doc and I'm sure he/she will figure it out. And everyone on here is absolutely right too, you want to get up and work that gas out. That can cause a lot of discomfort too. Also it might help to not lay down. It hurt so much for me to lay down that I stayed in a sitting position for the first two weeks. Slept in a sitting position as well. the pain meds couldn't cover up the pain when I was laying down.

I hope this helps!! And you'll get through it. We all did and we all know how much that first week sucks. Come on here and vent when you need to...that's what we're here for.

Im 8 days out...and first few days are torture in my opinion..I used gas x strips often and helped out SOOOOO much with the gas pains.. I also used a micowaved heating pad..( aka the bed buddy) all this and the pain meds helped..

Each day will get better, I wanna say it was about the 5th day I left like i was gonna be ok. 6th day i was out shopping and drove myself.

i stayed inside and rested the whole 5 days which helped out.

just know its gonna get better

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
