Your job made you do this?

The United States Coast Guard did. They said we dont care how you lose it but you have too in order to keep your License. They want to pull my license because of BMI. They told me this is what came up in the conference in 2010. Bmi 34 and above. sleep Apnea, strokes, diabetes, heart attacks and so on. Also ability and agility tests in case of emergencies. In other words since they have to follow these same rules all licensed personel through them shall as well.

I should have sued for discrimination. But I am not one of those people

Thats my exact worry also. But 17oz of shake, 5.5oz V8, 20oz of Water =42oz of Fluid. Some days I can get in more like so far today.

Ok, how is everyone eating now? I tried cottage cheese and I can eat 1/2 cup of cottage cheese at a time with no problem whatsoever. I did a scrambled egg last night. From what everyone said I was positive I'd only be able to get half of it down but I ate the whole egg! I'm starting to worry this isn't gonna work for me! Who eats the whole egg 8 days out???

I just don't ever have a sensation of "hungry" or "full" at all now. I eat 3 times a day because I know I am supposed to. When I start I'm not "hungry" per se. But even after I eat my portioned food I don't feel any "fuller" than when I started. Everyone says they can feel full after eating solids but I just don't. I never feel any different at all! I'm so confused. How can I stop when I'm comfortably full if I never feel full?? Has anyone else besides me felt this way? Is anyone else confused about their body signals for hunger? gosh...I'm 35 years old. You'd think I'd be able to tell when I'm hungry or full... I feel like a nincompoop!

Are you still on pain medication ? I didn't start getting the "full" feeling until after I started eating mushies which was a week after I stopped the pain meds. So that would be 2 weeks out (I started mushies much sooner than advised 'cause I really REALLY couldn't stand the Protein drinks).

no pain meds for me. I tried them when I came home and they made me want to vomit from the taste. I have been pain medication free for 6 days.

Wow your Dr. let you have eggs 8 days out?! Lucky you I would kill for an egg. I have to wait until week 3. We all have to get adjusted to our new stomachs and its new signals. I dont get a "full" feeling either. For me I can sorta feel it come up in my chest area. Everyone is different!

Crazines... I'm just over a month post op and I get full on 1/4 of a cup or so and if I do any more than that I just about get sick!

I see your concern, I was told that the surgeon measures what to *remove* not what stays! I don't know how true that it because I know that didn't come directly from my surgeon! It was in passing on here somewhere I think or something I read somewhere. But I thought to myself that it makes sense seeing as how everyone tolerates different amounts after surgery.

Hi all! I'm at day 17 post-op... I am able to have about 1/4 cup of broth, around 3 oz's of Jello, pudding or mashed potatoes at my meal time... I have a horrible time getting down my liquids or Protein shakes( maybe 32oz's a day). I also tried yogurt and cottage cheese only about 2-3oz's of those as there consitancy is a little thicker. I know I'm full when I feel it sitting in my chest! It doesn't feel very good and I have been walking daily! My 2 week post-op the other day I was down 17lbs so I was happy to know this must be working...

Everyone is different and I know it is going to be a journey for us all but this forum is a great tool to have at our finger tips. Good luck to us all ;)

I get my Protein with smoothie King Gladiator Protein powder in choc. I throw a dash of 1% milk and then mostly ice' date=' and a tablespoon of pb and blend it up like crazy ....its soooo good. I drink half in the morning (1 scoop) and the other in the evening which gives me about 50 grams of protein.[/quote']

Yes! Me too! Love the gladiator!

I too can drink a pretty good bit of liquid. However, yesterday was my first day to try Soups. I have been on Clear Liquids. The Tomato Soup just about killed me to get down 1/4 cup, but the cream of chicken, 1/2 was not a problem. I constantly sip liquids, whether it is Protein, Water, Soup, juiced juice in 1 ounce portions. So I can probably drink about 8 to 12 ounces in an hour. The protein is a little heavier so may take a little longer. I think liquids are absorbed pretty quickly. Once you start eating real protein, ie, tuna, etc, I think you will see that you can only eat smaller portions. Everybody please follow your doctor's and nutrionist's advice on when to start solids. There was an 18-year-old in a town close to mine who ate a Whopper Junior at 2 weeks out and he died from perforation. (I know this because I am taking a nutrition class at our local college and our teacher is a dietician that travels around the state.) Do not force your pouch. Eat the recommended amounts until your pouch heals...usually about 6 weeks out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
