Will This Ever End?

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on the 4 of January. One month ago my doctor told me I have a leak, abcess. Since then I'm on NPO and 3 weaks on TPN . I had some ups and downs but i took it and was taking it day by day. Now 2 days ago after a GI X-ray they informed me it healed by itself. I started one day of Clear Liquids and today full liquid I'm supposed to be released tomorrow. Now I have this pain in my stomach and I feel like throwing up...and I'm so scared its not over yet.

Please those who had a leak did you experience any of this .. I say to myself maybe it's just bcoz I didn't eat for more than one month my stomach is adjusting but I m scared of the worse. I have a release from hospital from 4 pm to 9 pm everyday I just don't wanna go there I'm frightened .

I had a leak and was NPO for about 3 months, didn't have any problems when I started drinking fluids or with foods. But if something doesn't feel right, question it. Also, you may need to be on liquids longer than just a few days before moving through the foods. If your tummy can't handle full liquids, back up to clear liquids.

I was NPO for 2 1/2 months and yes it was a odd feeling when I first started on liquids, you have to start out by sipping Water, very slowly, it will get better in a few days, but sip sip sip, a normal swallow after the NPO will hurt, Goodluck,it will get better.

Thank you for the replies

They did a CT Scan it showed no leak no abcess...the doctor said everything is fine. Gave me omeprozal and another one for heart burn. Went home yesterday took them and threw up everything ...I was a mess. This morning I took them but diluted in a bit of Water ate 1/2 cup of cereals....I'm struggling to keep it inside. Back to hospital.i will ask the doctor for endoscopy.

I had a leak and was very lucky that I did well in a very short time, so they say. But it IS very scary. God be with you & may He protect you... xoxo

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
