Tiny Chest Pains You Sometime Get

Recommended Posts

the first few days after my surgery i got tiny little chest pains every single time I took a sip of something. Over the days they got fewer and fewer. I am a week out now and I still get some of those tiny chest pains sometimes. They usually come when I take to much of a drink or stretch/yawn. Do these tiny chest pains ever actually go away or is this something that stays with you forever due to the size of your new sleeve?

I didn't have those pains, but maybe it's from your lungs reexpanding after the anesthesia. It could also be from the swelling in your core. It may have prevented your lungs from being able to fully expand. I hope its nothing serious. Hopefully someone knows exactly what it is.

I get these also.. from some people I've talked to it seems to diminish with time. Or comes less and less. Just give it time. I take gas x strips to deal with it. Especially take one before I have any broth or Soup

I think that they do lessen over time, but will always happen when you gulp. At least for me that is how it has been. I used to get them even when I eat. It was my full. But now, only once in a while if I have drank too fast or eaten too fast.

Be very cautious with this. It's my main health issue a year and a half out. The PH level in my stomach changed drastically after the sleeve so sometimes a small change can cause it as well. If it continues see a doctor about esophagitis because your esophagus can become ulcerated from the acid and cause serious damage that feels like heartattacks.

Just constantly update your doctor about how you're feeling. Because things CAN and will get better with time but also things can worsen if they aren't confronted.

That little chest pain was my full signal and I also got it when I drank too much or too quickly. I would say I got it for about the first 2 or 3 months, maybe more. At seven months out I dont get it now and I havent in a long while. My new full is burbing constantly and just feeling very full. The beginning though was that little chest pain. I hated it but in the scheme of things, its not so bad as puking or something like that. Hang in there.. it will diminish over time..take smaller sips further in between to make it lessen.

I was told that what you are feeling are esophageal spasms (spasms in your esophogus) they do eventually go away. I get them too I am 5 weeks post op. I hope they go away soon becauase they can be quite painful. Good luck to you

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
