How many fills do you have to have?

Recommended Posts

I am on my third fill and I'm still hungry and haven't lost more than a pound in the last two weeks. My fill person is very careful, but I only have 4.5 cc in a 10 cc band. When I get a fill, my nurse practitioner has me drink Water to see if the band is tight. I can't really feel how tight it is so I go home (2 hour drive) and find I can eat soft food the next day. Am I weird or something? My friend had her band at around 7 cc and she had to have an unfill. I haven't managed to get really filled yet and it's costing me a lot. I have lost 24 pounds since May ll and have lost 1 pound in the last two weeks. Any advice on this? Thanks.

Congratulations on your loss!

I have the 4cc band, but from what I have read, most people tend to feel restriction slower with the 10cc / VG band.

Here are a few intersting threads on the 10cc/ VG band;

I've just had my fifth and I can still eat almost anything but I've noticed my appetite has dropped again, much like after surgery. I'm not getting as hungry. But none of the previous four fills made much difference to me.

I'm now up to 2.5 in a 4cc band.

I have a 4cc band with 3 fills putting me at 1.6 my restriction is excellent as some points, good at some and just ok at other times. I do stay full for very long periods of time but my quantity intake could stand to be a little smaller. Not sure if I should schedule for fill #4 to have a more aggresive approach. I went to visist my family in Ohio last weekend and I did not have the urge or appetite to eat out one time. In previous years I would have use the out of town thing as an excuse to eat out. So that tells me the band is doing something positive. GOODLUCK to you all and lets pray that we all have more patients.

LOL,

Angels

It appears that the smaller bands may work better in the beginning but I read the posts on the various bands, and I think I'll just have to get about 2 more fills before it works very well. I'm going to try to get it filled up to 6 cc which may help but most of the folks I've talked to say you need 7 to 7.5 cc on the bigger band. Interestingly, my insurance is paying part of the fill costs. Amazing! They don't pay for anything.

But what with my eBay Cadillac and the surgery and all these fills, I'm getting poor pretty quick. I hope to get the band to work soon so I can cut down on the food bill at least.

Thanks to all of you for helping me out.

I am at 3.25cc in a 4cc band. I am in need of another fill cause there isn't a ton of restriction. I can feel it in the morning, but the tightness is gone by evening. My doc told me from the beginning that he thought I would have to go up to the full 4ccs.

Yeah, my doctor said somthing like that too. Till I got up to 3.9cc.

After a total unfill, I had the same restriction at 2.8, that I did at 3.9cc, so I am not at that sort of fill level anymore, but it does happen that people end up with a full, or near full band.

I am at 1.8 now, and waiting till i can eat solids again to see what kinda restriction i have. Being too tight is for the birds!!!!!

I had my band put on May 26th and have had 2 fills since then. My last fill was 3 wks ago and I currently have 2.8 cc's with a 4cc band. I have restriction in the mornings and am fine in the afternoons and evenings. If I dont chew propperly I know the food will get stuck however I don't get that full feeling. I am not sure if I need another fill?? :phanvan :phanvan

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
