Any One With Apoe 3/4 Genetics On Here? Or Had A Triple Bipass?

Recommended Posts

I am 54 years old and have had a triple bipass already and APOe3/4 genetics with the LPa cholesterol, metabolic disorder. I have bmi of about 39.3. I dont have diabetes but all my siblings do. I wonder if a sleeve would help limit blockage. When I do the fat free diet I lose weight but only with walking 5 miles a day. My hair falls out, I get serious dry eye. But my cholesterol improves. I am pretty active and eat healthy for the most part. I have been on a wheat free diet for weeks now. I lost a few lbs. A normal person would have lost more. I wonder if it's safe for me because I keep blocking. Now my front wall of heart is blocked. Lap bands DO NOT work for our family. It's sad and I hate to have the sleeve if it won't help. Doctors here don't know either. Maybe someone knows of someone with this problem and could help. PLEASEEEEE? Also I have most of my weight on my abdomen and back. The worst place.

My doctors know the band won't work and are not sure of the sleeve because I dont metabolize fats well. And have the problem with the little cholesterol.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
