3 Months Today And I Could Just Scream!

Recommended Posts

I am just done with the "flip-n" scale! I am 3 months today post op, I have not lost any weight since week 9! In all reality the scale has only moved 3 times since my surgery date, I have never lost on a weekly basis, I'm down 25 pounds, I'm pretty much feeling as though this is it for my weight loss!

yep, experiencing that right now. But guess what? We WILL lose weight because we really don't have any other choice. I remember when I was dieting that I would reach this point, I would stop losing, and I would say "to heck with this!" and just give up - and gain back everything I had worked so hard to lose and then some. But... this time, I CAN'T give up because it is physically impossible for me to eat too many calories (yeah, ok, if I sat in my recliner and fed myself ice cream all day long, I could).

So... are we going to give up ? NO ! Are we going to be patient with ourselves and continue making good healthy food choices ? YES !

We shall persevere ! We too shall be "forced" to buy new wardrobes (hehehehe I can't wait !) ! We WILL succeed !

Oh, Spatters.....thank you. So much. I have been stalled for 6 freakin' weeks and am going absolutely crazy. I try so hard to not get down, but man, is it tough :(

But you know what, you're right! I just need to somehow get back my determination and anticipation and hope. I had SUCH excitement and high hopes at the beginning, but I've lost it...need to get it back.

So right about not being able to give up and say F*^$ it like I used to at this point. Oh, don't get me wrong, I've tried  , but just can't fit much in there!!! I'm hoping the scale will move soon. My problem is that I haven't lost inches, either, which is horrible for six weeks.

Your words did help! Thank you.....

Count me in too! Despite knowing I'm doing the right things, my scale stopped moving too...5 weeks now! So thank you Spatters, you're absolutely right. This is where we used to give up, but this time IS different!

To combat my frustration, I went thru my closet and tried on clothes. LOL My closet is now half empty with clothes I can no longer wear (without looking rediculous). That made me feel so much better.

Thanks for the encouragement and support. We really can do this together.

I'm in the same boat and so frustrated. But not like I have an option at this point. Just have to keep going and I guess be glad I'm not gaining.

When I stall I tell myself I can't fail. Proper diet+exercise+water= fat loss. It is a scientific impossibility to fail! If I do those 3 things in proper proportions I WILL reach my goal!!!!

Anyway, I sure hope so.:D

Oh Pammie, I sooooo understand your frustrations... really I do! But there is light at the end of the tunnel, I promise.

In the early days my weight loss was soooo sporadic ... it used to drive me nuts! But it kept coming off... and I am sure it will be the same for you too.

I'm 19+mths out now and not quite at goal weight, but I've hit my original goal size! Honestly, this is the ONLY way that I have EVER lost more than 7lbs!

The scale will be your friend, but don't rely on it as a consistent tool for measuring success. Look at the important things, like how your clothes fit bettter-are too big, how fitter you are, how healthier you are and how much better you feel. They are the things that consistently keep me focused and on track. I will get to my weight goal.. just don't know when! And so what if it takes to the end of the year... I am not racing with anyone! I keep saying that I am taking the scenic route... and it is rather beautiful!

Good luck and keep on doing what you are doing =]

I have "stalled" a bit and it SEEMS more than it is...the scale goes down eventually and something is working i am in a size 38" jean.

We will loose because we have to.

I am going to a metabolic disorder specialist in the summer. I am waiting until then to give my body a chance to even out a little (hormone wise).

sleep as routinely as you can, getting as close to 8 hours as you can. Keep your carbs low, low, low and make time and room for Water - just Water. Your miltivitamin is essential. Exercise if you can at all. Limit your eating at night. It affects the way your body reads certain hormones and really does affect your weight.

I don't want to deflect focus from the original poster but..(I think that is called hi-jacking a post, right?) can someone help me to understand this aspect of vertical sleeve surgery (or I guess any restrictive diet that one consistently follows for weeks and weeks). From what I understand one's body needs to periodically "rest" to gear up for another round of weight loss. So, a stall of several weeks during the post op. rapid weight loss period is to be expected and is normal, yes? One thing that perplexes me is that folks are apparently consuming so very little, like 500-900 calories, correct? So, how do they take something away from nothing. Do they not change their already low caloric intake but rather increase H2O and activity and therefore continue to lose? Kind of a silly question....

Coops, thank you for your kind words and understanding! I have 10 + friends who have had some king of WLS and have all lost a great deal of weight. I try not to compare myself to them, most of them do not work out either, I just wish that I could have my "numbers" change in the manner in which they have. :)

Yep! We can't quit now. Not even if we wanted too! I just keep going and hope that someday, I will be at goal. I'm getting a lot closer! I know that I need to switch it up at times like fluctuating my calorie intake. I can't seem to get over 900 unless I eat junk food. And, I'm not willing to do that. ;)

Pammie... I am also with you on the comparison thing... not that I know many others in my friendship circle who have had WLS... but on this board - and others - the peeps who were sleeved the same time as me seemed to have lost much quicker and are at goal now. At the time it was a nightmare to read... at one point it took me to a dark place where I played the 'it's not fair game'. That was not a good move. I know it is hard, but try not to compare to others... just compare you to you... that is what worked and is still working for me!

let me know how you get on. =]

Dorrie...

do you like nuts? They are a great way of upping cals in a good way. I eat them a couple of times a week - great snack - yummy.

Hey folks,

I know you'll probably not believe it 100%, but at some point you will step on the scale, and like a bolt from the blue you will be at goal - I promise you!

I had loads of horrid stalls, and for a long time would only lose weight 1 week in every 4 (stupid hormones!!). I never truly believed this could work for me, but even if it is slow and steady - YOU WILL WIN THIS!

I think with WLS we anticipate super fast results, if you had done 2 months of weight watchers, you'd be delighted with say a 10lb loss, but because some people will lose 30/40lb in a month on these boards, we diminish our own achievements if it is less than that.

Celebrate every day in which you feel healthier, every time you have to tighten a belt another notch, every time someone surprises you with a complement.

If you take the time to absorb them, those things can sustain you when the scale is stubborn, and one day soon you'll; step on the scale and dance like a crazy person because of the number being so small, and you'll be sorting the laundry and wonder whose those tiny jeans are, before realising they are yours - AND THEY FIT! And you'll be clothes shopping and realise there is no point rummaging at the back of the rail, because your little size is right up by the front, and you'll do something reckless and fun without even stopping to think if your weight should stop you (like playing on the kiddie swings at the park!). And you'll realise you are 'there'!

You absolutely WILL do all of these things, and most of them will happen when you are nowhere near your scale.

Good luck on your journies, and Celebrate every step that you can! xx

Absolutely!

My roux n y wife got a strange indirect complement in church the other day. This lady which we have been sitting behind for years said hi to me then stared at Debbie for a long time. I had a feeling she was wondering why I came to church with a strange lady. To preempt any possible rumors we talked to her after church and verified that my woman was indeed my wife. :D

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
