I was always a fast and big bite eater. I guess that's why it was so easy for me to pack on the weight... :( I practiced small bite before surgery and was told as well as you to take eraser sized bites.

I tried and felt like come on....this size bite is just way to little for me...moral of my story...I am 15 days post op and I take bites the size of 3 erasers!! I chew my food to death and eat slow....giving my new stomach plenty of time to tell me "I am Full"...hope this helps...Blessings~Melanie:)

I am 14 months post-op and I used to shovel food in by the heaped forkful. I can't do that anymore. However, I'm not eating eraser-sized bites anymore either. I cut my food into about teaspoon-sized bits if it's meat; for more liquid things like stew or chili or yogurt, I can take a "normal" size spoonful.

Eating slowly and in small bites helps my dinner last longer so I don't stand out when eating with my friends. It's a good habit to get into early, I think.

I am almost 4 months post op and I take pretty normal sized bites. Cottage cheese, Cereal, yogurt, all those smooshy things are fine with normal bites. If it is meat or something like that I will take a normal bite but chew it to death. Anyways to answer ur question no I do not think eraser size bites will be the way u eat for the rest of ur life. Take ur time, do only what u can and rest assured it will all work out in the end. Good Luck!

I am over 4 months out and have absolutely no problems. I wish I did, to a point! I can eat pretty much just like I used to, except not as much. I WISH I had to eat slower and take smaller bites, but I still have to make myself think about it, if that makes sense, like before on a diet. My little sleevie could care less what I throw in there  She's extremely tolerant. But, again, everyone is SO different! I just ate steak last night and had to slow myself down so I didn't get full in two minutes! I can eat just as big as bites, just as fast, but I just get full a WHOLE LOT quicker, then just watch everyone else still enjoying their food, lol.

It's still a mental thing for me, not physical.

My bites are normal for a normal size person who eats at a normal pace... When I take a pre-Sleevina bite, she let's me know in no uncertain terms that she's running the show!!!

I actually forgot and took a huge gulp of Water... it was AWFUL!!!

I am taking small bites still, and I think my sleeve (George) really prefers it.

I try to always take smaller bites. If I do take a bigger bite... I CHEW, CHEW & CHEW! If I put to much on my plate, I always end up with leftovers!

Your sleeve will like you better if you take smaller bites. And why take large bites if you are going to have discomfort or cause yourself to injest too much food and feel miserable. My new stomach always tell me when I have had enough. The fast you eat and the bigger bites that you take the great the chance that you are going to be miserable when you are done eating.

I think i do eat the size of an eraser, naw maybe a little bit larger - if i do eat a size more than i should, i will chew and chew etc. BTW - My sleeves name is Heidi!!! DH says its now official !!!

As far as water is concerned, I always have trouble getting in the required amount. I just try to drink as much as i can.-do my best.

I drink huge gulps of Water, i always chug a lot even per my NUT, thats just how i drink, never had a problem

PS love your new picture :tongue2:

best

I don't know what a normal bite is to you, but my mom told me that a polite bite should never be bigger than the end of a fork. That you will be able to do, but you may want to rethink about loading up each bite. If you take smaller bites and wait between bites you will get more of different foods and it is less obvious to others. If you take a large bite, your done, people will ask if your food is good, or if you like it and you will draw attention to yourself. The smaller bites also get you into better habits. A year from your sleeve surgery you will feel a lot less restriction. If you keep habits of eating large, you could risk stretching your sleeve. This is a fresh start and that means a change to make sure we don't get back to old ways. Best wishes

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
