This Was A New One For Me!

Recommended Posts

For the last 3 weeks my right eye has been getting blurrier and blurrier. I wear contacts and had just gone for my annual check-up and new contacts three months ago. It was getting so bad that I was having trouble seeing when I drove. I went to my eye dr. to get rechecked and just happen to mention that I had the sleeve surgery (because he asked about my high blood pressure which I'm no longer on) and his head whipped around - "You had surgery? How much weight have you lost in what amount of time?" I told him, and he said that's why my eyesight changed! He said when you dramatically drop weight, it can affect your eyesight, usually temporarily. How weird is that? Anyone else heard of that?

Thanks, Sassygirl! My dr. seemed to think it was only temporary - he told me to keep my old prescription contacts and only order a box of the new prescription because my eyesight will bounce back to what it was.

Ahhh, to have perfect vision! :)

I have noticed that my eyesight has changed too! Its my right eye only. I had lasik in my left eye and its still perfect but I have noticed that my right eye is blurry sometimes, especially while driving at night. That explains it! Thanks!

Kinda makes sense if you think about it. With all the blood vessels in you eyes, high blood pressure is bound to have some effect on it. That's kinda cool. I know weight lose has worked wonders for my headaches.

So did it make the vision better or worse in the right eye?

It made my vision slightly worse. :( My prescription was 4.75 and it went up to 5.00. I'm hoping that eventually it will get better than 4.75, but I am comforted that my dr. said it will at least go back to what it was.

I am having the same problem! I go to the eye doctor next week. Did your vision come back?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
