Hey my Chicago Sleevers! My name is Juli and I was sleeved on the 17th of April. I was glad to see that this group was started as I am always looking for others that are nearby that have had the same thing I have had done. I am always thinking of questions and really am not sure where to turn. I currently am in my 3rd week and have not lost a pound for 3 weeks so I am feeling a bit frustrated. I have heard that this is normal but i cant help but think that I am doing something wrong, ya know? Any one experience this before?

Hi, Juli -

I'm new here myself - getting sleeved at Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove Village on May 21st. The Post Surgical forums are probably the best place to ask questions like yours about stalls, usually people say "make sure you're getting your Water and Protein in, and walking, and you'll move past it, don't worry!"

The groups based on localities are kind of odd - it's nice to know there are local people we can identify with, but questions and comments about anything unrelated to just Chicago fits better in other forums. I'm glad to make a connection with fellow Chicagoland folks, and doing something in person sometime would be great, but there's such a wealth of knowledge on these boards that it seems that when searching for info it's best to keep things with the group at large.

Those are my thoughts on why there's less activity here. :)

Kat, hey Im glad that you posted to here. I am so happy to know someone that is close by. I see that you have Dr. Wallace, he is wiht the Kane center the same place I go to. I had Dr. Kane Jr. do my surgery... I had my surgery at alexiam brothers too. They are great there! I loved the nurses and all the after care it was great. I live 10 minutes from there so it was great to be so close.

After your surgery if you are ever interested in getting together and metting up about any thing let me know. I am more than willing to. Its nice to have a friend who is going through the same thing that you are. I wish you good luck on your surgery. You are going in on my 1st wedding anniversary. LOL

I make my posts all over the place in hopes of getting the info I need but I have noticed that I dont get much reply on this. HA

I am devestated to my injury :( but I know God is great and he will see me through this rough time and hopefully no long term affects <3 amen.

Speaking of clothes....I just went through my clotes yesterday.. it took the whole friggin day LOl. I have 8 bins of clotes that are too small becuase i had lost 100lbs on my own but gained it all back and i kept all the clothes. so i was looking at them and i couldnt believe that i fit in those at one time... then i set up in the extra bedroom the next size down so i can go into those.. I have more clothes than i know what to do with. I would rather trade or give to someone in need than try to just sell them...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
