Go see my dr tomorrow for my two week post op.. Unfortunately I don't see him being very happy! I can't drink my Protein because it makes me want to vomit :-( I do drink plain ol Water all day, that ought to count for something :-) but not 64 oz I'm sure! I never realized it would be this hard to stomach the taste of things afterwards.. I have lost 17 lbs so far but that's neither here nor there because I STILL have this horrid pain on my left side that refuses to leave me which probably is having a hard time healing because of my complete lack of nutrition! As long as I keep my abd. binder on its bearable so I guess I will just wear it till the pain finally subsides...

Don't be so hard on yourself Ross!!! It's only been two weeks! 17 lbs is awesome!!! I had a really hard time getting those Protein Drinks down too! YUK! and I struggled with that side pain for quite a while. Once it went away, I sneezed and back it came! lol It's a process and it will get better!!!! Hang in there kiddo. Rooting for you!!! :-)

Quick update*** just left Dr. Bell's office and he said im doing GREAT! He said to keep doing what I can to get Protein in as this little amount will make my hair thin out real bad.. BUT he didn't act like I was doing anything wrong seeing as how I'm drinking tons of Water. Yay for me.. 18 lbs in two weeks and a great response from the doctor!

Thank you all so much for your kind words!!

Don't despair! The 1st four weeks were absolutely hellacious for me. I threw up daily everything made me sick. I thought I'd made a huge irreversible mistake! BUT I'm almost 6 weeks out now & it is soooo much better! Eating real food is helping me get in more Protein. I eat a lot of moist fish which is super high in protein, I hate milk but have an iced coffee everyday that's half coffee half milk. Just find anything you can stand & go with that! I didn't lose any hair :) Give yourself time. It does get better! Ps. Try hot & sour Soup (I get it vegetarian w/ extra egg) from a Chinese restaurant. It's easy going down & the egg is a good source of protein, but is in such small bits it is not even a mushie. Or egg drop soup if you don't do spicy! GOOD LUCK!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
