I had my surgery on feb. 6 and lost 15 pounds the first 8 days. I feel great about that but I have not lost a pound since. Can you stall that early? I've been drinking my Protein Shakes and I don't eat near as much as I used to, though I do eat pretty good. But of the right foods. I don't get it. I'm scared.

i had my surgery on 2/3 and by 2/13 i had stalled... only lost 3 lbs since then. so yea its possible!! it sucks but it'll break. today i lost 1.5 lbs. i think it had ALOT to do with my fluids.. i wasnt getting them in the way i should have. Yesterday i FORCED myself to drink.. infact, i even had some cranberry juice to help because its easier to get down than plain Water, and i think it worked because i was stuck at 227.5 for days and this morning i hit 226.0.

its all about Water and protein!!

njd, yes it's seems it's pretty normal. I had stalls early on. In fact, I've had a stall and lose pattern through out! Only recently I seem to just have a slow steady pattern. But I've read that most people stall within the first three weeks! It might be our bodies adjusting. Hang in there. It will break. Just be sure and focus on nutrition (protein) and fluids and be sure you're moving. It's so frustrating when it happen, but just hang in there kiddo!!!

I lost about 15 pounds in my 1st two weeks and have been stalled for the past week and a half but am noticing inches gone. I was able to fit in a size smaller jeans today! Don't worry too much about what the scale says, its all about how you feel. I've decided not to weigh myself again until my next follow up with the doctor. That scale is evil! Plus, dropping several pounds overnight is not only unlikely but also unhealthy! Your body needs time to process the major changes it is going through.

I don't worry about stalls much anymore. I realize after my stalls and reading everyone else's fears of not losing anymore, that it's totally unrealistic that we are stopping our weight loss. I wanted to see the scale go down instantly. Well, my weight didn't go on instantly, so it will take a while do go down. I realized that when my body halted shedding those unwanted pounds. My body was readjusting in inches. Yes inches! That's what really counts for me. So I have put my scale away, or to put it mildly, it's in a time out for not going down! I had even went out an purchased a new scale because it had went for 144.6 to 161.6 overnight! Now that freaked me out. My scale was just fine. It was probably Water weight.

Anyways, I am not stressing on scale #'s anymore and am just going to live my life happily and weigh myself periodically. This is where I'm at now. I have about 30 lbs to loss to get to my set goal, and I will get there. I'm only 4.5 months post op and I don't need to waste today worrying about tomorrow. Today is the day that I'm celebrating bc my body looks so much better (with cloths on). Yes I have a muffin tummy or I also call it a raisin top. LOL

Stop worrying, your weight will come off, focus on eating healthy and enjoying the new you. Look in the mirror and see the miraculous changes taking place. Don't miss out on today bc your focusing on tomorrow!

Have a beautiful day! :D

My surgen warned me ahead of time that at about 3 weeks would be a stall and not to worry.

I think I was like a lot of people thinking that the weight would just fall off after my surgery. I know when I first came home I was weighing myself all the time. Finally, I started thinking the weight didn't just show up over night so why am I stressing over not losing a pound a day. So even though the weight is coming off slower than I had hoped, I am now learning alot about my body and my health I can now where shoes (my feet and ankles had swollen so bad I had to wear bedroom shoes all the time) which I have not been able to do for a while and I have ankles. I can walk up a flight of stairs and not have to stop to catch my breath. I feel like doing things when I get home from work besides putting on my p.j.s and watching t.v. Overall I feel better than I have felt in years.

So hang in there, the weight will come off. Just don't forget all the other things that come along with the WLS too.

It is a journay but we are all in it together.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
