Sleeved! 5 Days Post-Op

Recommended Posts

So, I'm 5 days post-op and I am so tired still. I have to drag myself to get up and walk. I'm constantly having tightness and pain in my chest. I'm having a hard time drinking my fluids because its so painful and I have no desire to drink anything. I'm getting in my 64oz but I'm forcing myself. Good news is I am not hungry so I don't miss anything. But I feel so ill. Even the smallest amount of Water or Protein shake makes me want to puke. And I have zero energy. Is this normal???

9 pounds down since surgery :)

Yes is totally normal. You still healing from the surgery . I think I started feeling "normal" by week 3 or so. It will get better, keep getting your fluids . And rest as much as

you can .They prescribed me an anti nausea medication for the first 2-3 weeks called

Zofran. Are you taking any anti nausea meds? Congrats on your weight loss so far!

Yes this is totally normal. I felt the same way no desire to drink anything, I started to force myself to drink because I was scared to become dehydrated. I also had no energy for a long time. So far this week I am just starting to really feel back to myself.

Thanks. It's nice to know I'm not alone. I am taking anti nausea. But it doesn't help with the pain. I guess I'll have to take it one day at a time. I just feel like I'm not following all the rules. My being so tired has effected my walking.

Vampsy, I'm 8 days out and feel SO much better than I did at day 4 & 5. It truly seems to magically get better every 24 hours. Hang in there u will see. I still get tired by the end of the day but def have more energy and stamina and hardly any more pain in my chest when I eat/drink. My an area still gets a lil sore after I walk a good 20 min but I think that's understandable & my cue to take it easy awhile. But believe me u r going to feel better & better every day!

Yes, I have lortab. But it makes me very drowsy so I try to take it only at bedtime. But the pain mostly comes from my chest when I swallow :(

It really does get better every day. Let yourself rest if you are tired. At 6 weeks out, I still find myself taking frequent naps. I guess my body needs them, so I don't fight it. Definitely continue to force yourself to drink. It is super important to stay hydrated.

Welcome to the other side of surgery! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
