The same thing happened to me. About a week after surgery I was down from 269 to 253 and few days later I had my follow-up (about 10 days out) and was at 259 which the doctor was happy about. Over the next few weeks I had gotten close to surgey weight and I had my 1 month visit coming up. By the time the one month visit came around I was up about a pound. I was afraid that they were going to recommend that I get a fill but I didn't want one because I have good restriction and don't feel hunger from the plication. I did get some advice on how much Protein and carbs I should have daily and in the week and a half since that appointment I'm down about 6 or 7 pounds.

Give your body time to adjust. I'm not sure how nomal it is but it happens. Also I found that in that time that the weight weight went up and slowly game back down, I must have lost inches because my clothes became too big and others noticed the weight loss on me

So you've lost 5lbs in one week! That is great! Right after surgery, they are pumping you with liquids and your body is going through so much! It is not anything to be embarassed about! Stick with your plan and all will be fine! Good Luck! :-)

Thanks for sharing! I am 7 days po today and am at 5lbs too, which is all the crap leaving my body so far:-) I too feel like I'm doing something wrong or not good enough and yet I see I'm recovering still and my body is changing in many ways and maybe my measurements have changed (haven't checked) , so to relax, breath and take it one good strong, educated, disciplined day at a time!!!

Good luck on your journey...

You are doing great! Just sit back and relax and work that sleeve!! :)

I had 3 days of IV fluid/ pain meds and that had me UP 14lbs after surgery. I am JUST NOW getting back to my pre-op weight (213) a week and some days later! Talk about frustrating but it goes to show you that the body is confused and trying to figure things out after the trauma it received.

To be honest, I have skipped around with what I have been eating since about day 5 and I am still losing the inches. I can tell already in my clothes and the way they fit. Give it time.. we are all still pretty early in our journey and together we will make this work! :)

Good luck!

You're doing fine! Who knows how much fluids they pumped you full of in the hospital. Who knows how long it took your body to get rid of those fluids. And as far at the differences in the scale go- sometimes they're just dumb! We know this!! HaHa

I had my one week checkup today and I was told they did not expect me to have lost any more than a couple of pounds because your body is still getting over the trauma. Just be patient. Your new life is BE GINN ING....Must be patient.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
