Kaiser Coverage Of Revision Surgery

Recommended Posts

I had a BMI of 36, with no co-morbidities. I had the vomiting and couldn't eat anything but sliders. My PCP referred me to a bariatric surgeon, who wanted to get the band out post-haste. I had upper GI but no classes. Between referral to bariatrics and revision was 2 weeks.

Hi Bionic, I'm supposed to see Dr. Mun tomorrow! I am so excited and thrilled. I have the same situation you had. I have a slight slippage but everpresent abdominal pain. I am hoping that he will agree with my desire to have the band removed and a sleeve put in. Can you tell me your thoughts on Dr. Mun, and were you happy with what he did for you?

Thanks!

I am so excited for you! There's not anything that Dr. Mun could have done to make me love him more. He is wonderful, and you are in very capable hands! My 3-month follow-up is tomorrow. God bless!

Thank you so much for the reassurance! Your story has really comforted me so thank you for sharing that! I'm going to be there tomorrow at 1:00. If you will be there too around that time, I'd like to give you a hug!

My appointment is at 10:30. I have to drive an hour and a half to get to Harbor City. I'd love to meet you, too. I hope it works out!

Thanks very much. I am coming from Camarillo so I have a drive also. I have no idea how long it might take from where I am given traffic conditions. I am about 70 miles away, and so it will probably take me an hour and a half also, but I'll probably come like an hour early just in case there is a lot of traffic. I am really excited. I was afraid I was going to have to live with this pain for months longer.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
