I know I am atypical, but...

I am eating about 1750 cals per day (4 weeks out tomorrow). Weight is coming off very well. I eat about anything (try to stick to healthy choices), just in very small quantites. I do eat every few hours, however. If I dont eat every few hours, then yes, I feel hungry.

My Doctor seemed to think I was doing fine, and given the what the scale and measuring tape say, I am inclined to agree.

I'll be four weeks wen and I try to stay at about 1000 calories a day. I've tried just about everything and nothing has disagreed except too much sugar. I love Reece's and had two Reece's hearts, I know bad but I paid the price. I was only 277 at 6'1" going in to surgery and I'm at 256 now I've been at around 260 for three week sloooooow going. A normal day is coffee in the morning with sugar free apple sauce 1 cup, maybe a little beef Jerky or some almonds for snack then some Soup for lunch or a yogurt. Then supper I can eat more than a cup of salad or soup or small peice of chicken. Not going to lie I do eat the occasional corn chip or cookie the kids have. Which I know I shouldn't. Try to drink all day. I love the morning orange sugarless powder to add to my Water, tastes just like Tang and the closest to orange juice with no calories. From Walmart. Hope this helps. Your not alone. Your prob in a stall.

I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow and have been struggling to get in my Protein and Water. I am doing much better day by day. I've been losing steadily with only a one week stall. The weight is not coming off as fast since I introduced food at 3 weeks. I stayed the same weight for about 4 days but I've lost steadily since then. Today officially put me at 40 lbs lost.

Today went like this:

Breakfast - Premier Protein shake

Mid Morning snack - Laughing cow cheese wedge and a few mini crackers

lunch - 3 Jumbo Grilled Shrimp and about 1 oz of pot roast. A couple of spoonfuls of mashed cauliflower.

Afternoon Snack - 1/2 cup steamed broccoli

dinner - Ground turkey with taco seasoning. A little lowfat cheese, one tsp of Goya Sofrito and 1 tsp of lowfat sour cream.

That put me at 750 calories, 73 grams of Protein for today, which is the most I've gotten in so far. It doesn't feel like a lot of food, but very protein heavy. I may have a No Sugar Added Applesauce cup in a few, just because it satisfies my sweet tooth.

I know its against the wisdom offered on this board, but maybe you should try to eat more. I know that's heresy around here, but I'm serious. Also, if you're not exercising, give that a go as well (I started just walking down the street, and have already progressed to getting a gym membership last week). These two things have worked well for me so far (no week 3 stall here, just steady weight loss).

I hit the 15lbs lost since surgery mark today and I have already been thru a one week stall. I eat pretty much what I want to within reasob of course. I am keeping my calories under 700, my Protein above 60, my carbs under 40 and my fat under 45. So far so good. For dinner tonight I had three saltine crackers and a slice of sharp cheddar cheese. If you want to see the rest of my food logs for the past several weeks you can friend me on myfitnesspal.com. My user name is "MyNanner"!

I think I may be the exception here. I can't eat meat yet, at all. I can eat fish and shrimp. Shrimp actually go down really well. My typical day is:

Morning: Decaf coffee with 1 cup low fat soy milk, and either yogurt or egg beaters with goat cheese

Mid Morning snack: Babybel light cheese

Lunch: Greek Yogurt (mix regular and fat free)

Afternoon snack: Small Protein drink

Dinner: Shrimp and avacado

I met with my nutrionist last week and she told me to cut out the applesauce and juice I was eating/drinking because it had to many carbs and that can cause a stall (which I am in..I think I may be starting to come out of it.) But she told me otherwise, to just keep what I was doing. Also that she didn't anticipate that I would be able to eat meat this early anyway. I have to say I was looking at my husbands steak last night, longing for a bite, but still had no interest in actually taking a bite because I knew it would just get stuck and hurt. Oh and ice cream...yeah that's awful. I almost threw up when I had some last week. It was one indulgence that I gave myself in the 4 weeks post op. I won't do that again. I felt the worst I have since surgery because of it.

oh and to answer your other question....I am starting to get some energy back, but still can't do a lot. I go to bed now around 9:30 and sleep until 7am. I tried going shopping last weekend and just couldn't muster the energy to keep up with everything at the mall. So I get tired easily and my energy is good for a bit but can deplete rapidly. I think that's normal at this stage though.

At four weeks out, I ate around 600 calories a day and was walking three times per week for exercise. I was still pooped and needed naps and put off doing stuff that could be delayed. I didn't start exercising with weights till 6 weeks out and I didn't have all my energy till about 4 months out.

A typical day:

575 calories, 67 grams Protein, 8 cups fluids

6:45 a.m. : 1 cup Water

7:30: 1 cup Decaf coffee

8:00: 5 oz Chobani Yogurt Fat Free, didn't eat the fruit on bottom

9:30 1 cup Water

12:15: 1 oz. 99% fat free ham, 2/3 light cheese stick

1:15: 2 cups Diet Lipton Green Tea with Citrus

4:00: 2 oz. chicken thigh with BBQ Sauce and 1/4 C. watermelon

5:00: 2 cups Crystal Light Pink Lemonaide

7:30 1 cup soy milk with 1 scoop vanilla Protein Powder

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
