I'm just trying to get together a shopping list so I'll be ready to go when I do finally get my surgery date. Please share your lists and please share if there was anything you purchased but found out you didn't need or anything you wished you would have gotten. Thanks.

I bought some chicken broth (I found way too salty after)

bullion cubes

s/f Jello

Protein powder

reuseable Water bottles

decafe tea

splenda

That's about it as far as groceries...I had two weeks to gather the full liquids and I needed to get out of the house by then so that's it. I did send hubby to store for chap stick...should have bought that.

From reading great advice on this forum I made a list of these items & gathered in preparation........ :-)

bariatric Protein powder (I like the fusion chocolate mousse) & some pre-made Protein drinks for quick & easy grabs

GasX (sounds like the gas afterwards for a few days is quite painful)

Nexium (ditto on the acid)

liquid Tylenol (to use after the dr's liquid painkiller has finished it's job)

lots of gatorade, s/f Jello, Water bottles

chewable bariatric Vitamins (again the fusion isn't bad...the mixed berry looks a bit intimidating but is relatively easy to chew up and swallow...my dr advised 2 of those a day for always after.)

pill crusher (this is a cool little thing I found at WM which crushes any non-chewable pills you have to take)

low cal/lactose free yogurt

of course my chapstick!

that's all I can remember at the moment! Best of luck! I go in tomorrow morning............(feels like the first day of school when you were a kid!)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
