3 Days Post Op And My Body Is Angry!

If you guys don't mind me asking what your starting bmi was? I am new to this and I'm ready to start my process for the Sleeve. I don't think my insurance will cover it but I just want to ask around to get an idea.

My starting BMI was just 40, the minimum for insurance to cover the surgery. They also make exceptions to the rule if there are other medical conditions present such as diabetes, heart disease, etc.

I saw that someone said that they were taking aspirin. Before taking any aspirin I would check with your doctor as aspirin is a blood thinner and since you just had a major surgery there are many other types of medications that you can take that will not cause possible bleeding issues.

I was also told that wrapping your tummy in warm towels (moist heat) helps with gas bubbles too. I have a microwaveable "bed buddy" that's been soothing in that area.

I am sorry you are having such a rough time.

I was given Oxycodone for pain as well. It definitely knocks you out and just did so so for the pain. I had a variety of issues during my first 2 weeks and visited the ER twice with terrible pains. The ER doc wrote a perscription for Percocet, which is just Oxy and Tylenol together. That worked MUCH better for the pain than the Oxy alone. I know you keep hearing this, but it does get better. My pain went away. I am dealing with extreme fatigue and dizziness now at 5 weeks out. But I am down 40 lbs and SO, SO cute! I am anemic and know that this fatigue too shall pass....

Someone asked about BMI. Mine is high. On the day of surgery it was 63. Today it's 56! :biggrin5:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
