6 Weeks Post-Op And Regretting The Surgery

Recommended Posts

Can you call the local doctor you went to? Doctors will sometimes call in a prescription to a pharmacy for you, without you having to go for another visit. Perhaps the nausea suppositories so you can eat more. I have been thinking about you all day long and read your old posts. There you mentioned you ate 300 calories a day for weeks, or something like that.

Also research H2blockers, Proton Pump inhibitors and antacids. They don't work the same. You probably want a medication on a different category than Omeprazole. Remember there is silent reflux.

I hope you find the solution real soon!

i am also on zantac 150 twice a day - at my worse (and until i felt better) i ate crackers, bananas and even chips which were the only things that did not make me feel nauseous! hope you get well soon.

Longer-life, yup, I eat about 300 to 400 cals a day, can't eat more. :( I was so excited to have this surgery, and I want to be one of those people who loves life and weight loss, but I have two young kids, and I drag myself through the day. It's terrible. I am going to try a different antacid for sure.

Nateeks, when did you feel better? I've been eating crackers - saltines and Cheez-its - totally not healthy but they settle my stomach!

The nurse at my surgeons office told me that amount of calories is not enough and I would get into a vicious cycle. I am sorry you don't have the proper after care. This issue would have probably been solved with the help of a team of professionals.

If I was you, my first priority would be to get hold of the nausea suppositories so you can eat more. Research if any exist OTC if you can't afford prescription. Meanwhile try to sip on room temperature or warm full calorie Gatorade. I'm not a doctor of course . I'm worried about you. This is no way to live.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
