Memory Lane - The Wardrobe Remix!

Recommended Posts

So...I have not had the urge to post any non-scale victories as of yet, and then this morning as I was getting dressed for work it occurred to me! I have not bought any new clothes yet. Rather, I have been revisiting all the old "when I lose X amount of weight I will wear these again" pieces. You all know what I'm talking about. The "wishful thinking" wardrobe. It has been so much fun! Today I have on a skirt that I have not been able to wear in probably about 4-5 years, and a co-worker commented "I remember that skirt!" It felt so good. It feels amazing to be able to go back over to "that side of the closet". It feels even better to fold up jeans and shirts that are now too big and put them in the Goodwill bag that I now keep in my closet. I am so happy. I am so very, very happy, and enjoying every second of the remix!

I can imagine how good this feels. I can't wait and am so glad I didn't throw my old clothes away. I have so many nice items I just couldn't depart from them. Now I have the opportunity to wear them again....... Whoooooo rayyyyyyyyy!!!!!! BTW, I have been every woman from a size 16 to a size 22, once I got to that size refused to buy anything bigger......

It's great, isn't it? I had friends over for dinner on Saturday, and someone said, "Oh since you lost weight you must have had to buy all new clothes!" I looked down at the pretty sweater I was wearing and said, "Actually, this is 15 years old, but I kept it hoping I'd fit into it again some day."

If 80's shoulderpads and Ally McBeal-length skirts ever come back, I'm ready!

I hear ya! It's fabulous! I have many tubs of clothes from previous sizes. It's been so great to pull them out and put them in the place of bigger sizes I've had to get rid of. Love it! Also love getting rid of tubs and making more space in my spare bedroom!

Oh and of course saving money on buying new clothes is great too. Well ok... I admit I've bought a few pieces at each size as I've went down- just can't resist! :)

Congrats to you and enjoy this process as it continues- and I know it will!! :)

Congrats! I SO wish I would have kept smaller clothes but they would be SO outdated now it wouldn't matter.

that's great! You're shopping your closet. I'm getting a little worried because for the most part, my clothes still fit. Guess this means they were WAY too tight before. All I can do is keep pluggin away!

Thanks ladies! And, Indymom, you wouldn't believe how much styles rotate. There is definitely going to be some stuff that you are going to be able to put back in your mix. Also, you best believe that the youth are taking advantage of all the fine stuff you are turning in to Goodwill and other thrift stores. They eat up all the stuff we consider useless and "outdated". So, make sure you take a second look before you throw out that fringe sweater!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
